Yes, those checks seem to be pretty much routine. My husband didn't receive any official paperwork after his interview, just sent on his way to wait.

Just hang in there and inshaAllah it will be just 3 weeks. It may go longer than that unfortunately.

Name checks, security checks, making sure that you're not related to any terrorist organization, things like that.

Basically, making sure that you don't pose a threat to the united states.

Yes, they could still tell you no if something comes up in the security checks. Don't buy a ticket or do anything major until you have the visa in your hand.

You can, however, gather paperwork and stuff in preparation for leaving. If you have a college degree, get your transcripts stamped and certified. Gather as much information on your college program that you can. Also, make sure that you have leave from the military to leave the country. I'm assuming you're a guy, sorry if you're not.

this is the advice my husband has on what you need to do to get everything square with the military

That is good and interesting question?

He must go to the Amry Center (Mantakat Tagneed) which he was in before to get his exemption. It depends on where this Army Center was. I believe he knows where is this Amry Center. It may be in Tanta, Cairo, ..etc.

I really do not know so well about the situation of the exempted person. But, he must go the Amry Center (Mantakat Tagneed) and tell them that he is going to travel to outside the country and if his Military Exemption Certificate is enough for this purpose.

For me although I had already an Military Exemption Certificate, it was not enough to travel outside, so, I paid money and I waited for a week to get a another Military Exemption Certificate which this phrasee written on it:

HE IS NOT REQUIRED FOR THE AMRY AT ALL. However, my prior Military Exemption Certificate had just this title "HE IS NOT REQUIRED FOR THE AMRY".

Anyways, getting the appropriate Military Exemption Certificate or in case the one he has is already enough. He must go to the "Ministry of Interior Administration of Passports Immigration and Nationality" at his twon or state in casee of he lives in a village and tell them that he is going to travel outside the country. They will ask him to have a photo copy of his Military Exemption Certificate from both sides, in case of the Certificate is the right one. He is not going to pay a lot of money for this procedure except for the photo copy of the Military Exemption Certificate and for some stampes.

All Egyptians males must have a NOTICE on PAGE 9 of their PASSPOERT. A phrases like that must be attached to PAGE 9 of the Passport:

Phrase one

" The military situation has been modified to that person by the Administration of Passports at his (Twon)"

Phrase two

" HE IS NOT REQUIRED FOR THE ARMY"

He must have 5 stampes on this page besides the last two phrases.

I think he will get his passport with all those stampes and phrases included to it in the same day in sha Allah.

At the airport the Egyptian officer there is going to look at two things in his passport:

American Visa, PAGE 9.

The person will be stopped at the airport immediately and there is a possibility to be accused of escaping from the country without a Admissibility of the Ministry of Defense, if his Military Situation is not clear.

One Page 6 on my passport, you can see this verse,

"The Admissibility of the Ministry of Defense Is Required in Case of Travelling outside, please see Page 9"

He must check his passport and at least, he must go to the "Ministry of Interior Administration of Passports Immigration and Nationality" at his twon or state in casee of he lives in a village and tell them that he is going to travel outside the country. They will tell him and he must do.

3 weeks??? Good luck on that. ;) My fiance just got his visa last week and we were interviewed on Feb 14th. They told us he would have his visa in 6 weeks which would have been March 28th. That time came and went. Our case was back and forth between Washington and Cairo a number of times. I know there are others here that have been waiting for 5-6 months also. Best of luck to you!

they usually say 3 weeks to everyone but the time frame is not always as such. Basically you'll just have to patiently wait until they call you..... hopefully it's not a long wait :)

i dont have any criminal record, or any problem before, do u think that would keep me sure that things going be alright?

also, all my papers r ready, but the milatry thing, i have to get visa in hands first

second, i have Senator on our case, working on it

do u think that would make it faster?

My husband had no criminal record and was very careful to never associate himself with any "radical" preachers that the Egyptian government disliked. Even with a perfectly clean record, it still took a month and a half for security checks before we got the visa.

I don't think the senator can make the security checks go any faster. You just have to be patient. Patience patience, sabr sabr. Once you get to the United States, you have to wait some more. So, it's good to get used to it now :star:

My husband got all the military stuff done prior to the visa I believe.

James,

First congratulations on your positive interview in Cairo. I'm sure you don't have much to worry about based on what you've said. I would not count on it being 3 weeks. Although each case is unique, Cairo seems to be running very slowly. My fiance was told the same time frame and we are almost 5 months now waiting for him to finish on all of his processing. He also has a clean police report and no religious or terrorist affiliations.

Rahma is right. Don't purchase any tickets. Just use this time to prepare yourself to travel in other ways and try to be patient. Believe me, I know your feeling. We've been sitting on the very edge of our chairs since his interview in March, were sent an email a few weeks ago that the visa "would be issued soon" then he was called in for fingerprinting and more waiting.

I don't think senator involvement speeds things along unless your case is "stuck" in limbo based on what I've seen here on this forum. Maybe others can offer better information. Good luck and try to patient.

If you want you could probably call the Department of State to see if the checks are pending still or if they are complete... it won't help you know eactly when you will get your visa but it could at least give you something to do while you wait. Congrats!

i did already a finger print at the embassy, in my interview, she asked me to put finger on the scanner, and take both finger, i dont know, if that only, or they would want more finger prints again.

and thanx alot for all ur help, i get the idea now, its waiting game, nothing to do about it, just wait and wait, and pray!
