Hi friends,

Can cash in the bank out of US be considered as assets of the principal sponsered immigrant?

I am a US Citizen and I want to Apply for my parents GC. On I-864 form section 28 there is place for principal sponsered immigrant assets. Can I list their cash assets which is in the bank in their country and not in USA?

Yes, it is possible.

The asset to income ratio is 5:1 for assets held outside the US. Also, depending on how easy/difficult it is to move cash from that country to the US would factor into the CO's decision on whether to allow those assets to be considered.

Check with the embassy; some embassies will not considered assets held in foreign countries, so you'd need to move the money to the US first. Ireland is such a country, even though it is easy to move money from an Irish to a US bank account.
