Hello all,

I've gained citizenship through my wife and I am now 26 years old. I successfully sponsored my parents who just got the green card and are planning on moving to the US in the next few months. They picked their green card at the U.S consulate in France.

My concern is that I have a little sister in which my parents will petition for her when they get here as I understand the process is faster if they are the one sponsoring.

My question is since she is 14 years old and my parent's can't afford leave her alone in France for 1 to 3 yrs so they will have her travel with them with a visitor's visa.

Can she come and register for school here while my parents apply for her? Can we file a I-485 along a I-130 to adjust her status here so she can go to school here while waiting for her green card?

Thanks!

she can register for school, but she's not eligible to adjust in country, because children of residents don't qualify. children of residents have to go through consular processing. your parents can only file the i130 for her.

does she already have a visitor visa? if not, it will be difficult or impossible for her to get one, she has no ties to the country and she will eventually overstay if she comes here. They won't give her one, unless she already has one. And even so, the officer at the POE can deny her entry if they want to.
