Hi all,

I had my CR-1 interview on sep 17th 2010 at Chennai consulate , after 5 hours of the interview the American consular officer handed over me the blue sheet .. i;e 221g

Details: Due to lack of time we got married in simple way according to( brides ) tradition, at our home in presence of our immediate family members on march 12,2009 and registered on march 13 2009.

My husband went back to US on April 1st 2009 and he applied for citizenship, he had become a US citizen on October 30,2009 .

Then my husband filed K-3 and I-130 for me in November 2009 . We have submitted all the documents with our ceremony photographs and marriage certificate to USCIS , we have got approval from USCIS and NVC . The interview date was scheduled on sep17 2010 .

Meanwhile in August 2010 my husband came to India for 3 weeks .And this time we got married according to ( grooms ) traditions , we have performed Saptapadi and he tide the Mangal sutra to me, we have invited our relatives , close friends . My hubby went back on Sep 7 th,2010 .

When i went to interview i have taken with me the March 2009 ceremony pics and August 2010 marriage album and wedding card , i shown to the consular officer .

He was asking me why did u guys married tow times ..i explained him in number of ways ,but the consular officer had some doubt due to which retained our MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE for verification , and i was told your case is on AP , he had given me the 221g form.

Since we are away for 1 1/2 yrs, now it's difficult to wait ..

Can any body suggest , help me out how can i assure them there was no fraud nothing ..just we got married two times in different traditions ..

Thanks for your patience to read

looking forward for suggestions

Looks like they are questioning the different "marriage" dates - most likely to see if the first one was valid (if it wasn't, would invalidate the petition and application sent in).

So now you will have to wait to they finish the AP.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

if you have a legal marriage (legal in India) on march 13 2009

then you shouldn't have any problems.

If it wasn't a legal marriage on march 13 2009

Then he wasn't eligible to file the I-130 .

I guessing the VO was confused, and wants more time to validate things.

Good Luck, however it turns out !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Hi , Bobb+Umit,

Thanks for the reply ,we register our marriage on march13,2009 at registrars office, where every body register there marriage , and the officer had given us our marriage certificate ( original ) which we sent to USCIS.

The second time we got married according to our tradition only .

Thanks
