I think she's smoking something.

Your fiancee is moving here right? With the visa in her passport? (just saw your timeline, hopefully there will be one in there!)

Anyway. No, she will not be denied if she has that visa in her passport and the infamous "envelope" in hand.

Not true.

You do not need to purchase a round trip ticket, especially since you are using a K-1 visa, with immigrant intent. (well - after you get married that is).

Either the agent is trying to make more money - or is confusing your trip with a "visit' and sometimes CBP wants you to have a round trip ticket to prove ties back to your country - but this is not applicable to you.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

You don't have to but typically it is actually cheaper to get a round trip ticket.

Not really, one way cost me $625 compare $1100 for round trip.

I was able to buy one way ticket, but they asked me to write them a letter that I am taking full responsibility for the charge if she is denied boarding.

Thank you.

Fire your travel agent, go directly to Aerosvit and buy a ticket online. Your travel agent has no clue what she/he is talking about.

Alla and OPasha arrived on mne way tickets, it was cheaper at the time. Round trip is sometimes cheaper, buy whichever is cheapest.

My letter would have said "Now I know why you are being replaced by "mouse-clicks", Kiss my @ss!"

What really, really scares me sometimes is that our government ran all the manufacturing jobs out of this country with tax laws that favor giving our jobs to foreign citizens. This leaves us with a "service based" economy and we are absolutley LOUSEY at service! We constantly put un-trained people into positions of "service" who then, rather than say "Let me check on that, I'm not sure" (in other words...PROVIDE A SERVICE!) they just pull some BULLSH*T out of the air and if you do not go along with their BULLSH*T you have to sign a letter to cover THEIR #### because THEY are uninformed!

I simply cannot deal with such incompetence, ever, for any reason. I WILL NOT!

I can only say, "Get used to this". Inform yourself, keep official information with you to train other people's "service" employees as you go along. You will frequently have to show them their OWN policies and procedures as they will not know them.

We bought a one-way ticket on Aeroflot with no problem. If you do purchase a round trip ticket be sure and cancel the return flight after you arrive. I have read where some VJ people have been accused of leaving the country during AOS because the ticket had not been canceled. Keep proof.

This is true but rare. I know of one case where they AOS was denied because they had a round trip ticket, but it was re-opened and is pending approval again after congressional intervention.

So it appears that the travel agent is not only wrong, but WAY wrong. It seems the only trouble was with someone that bought a round trip ticket.

People still use Travel Agents?

so just for clarification purposes you can buy either a round trip ticket or one way ticket. I thought I was told before that they have to come on a one way ticket if coming on a K-1? In my case round trip ticket is cheaper so I am hoping I can get a round trip ticket....
