GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - A Michigan man accused of fathering 23 children with 14 women has been sent to prison for failing to pay child support.

State prosecutors say Howard Veal of Muskegon owes more than $500,000. Kent County Circuit Judge Dennis Leiber says he's "stunned and amazed" by the case.

The judge told Veal: "Animals procreate. Human beings are supposed to nurture their children."

The Grand Rapids Press reports Veal was sentenced to two years to four years in prison Thursday, well above guidelines that called for six months in jail.

The 44-year-old Veal says he's been out of work and pays what he can. The Muskegon man pleaded guilty in July to owing more than $60,000 to a woman in Grand Rapids.

There are 14 child-support cases pending.

This makes NOOOOOOOO sense at all... didn't these women know that he had prior women with kids too.. :wacko:14 different women.. zip that thing up PLEASE!!! all these different women don't know you can get diseases plus a baby.. what the @##$ is wrong with these people... 3 kids is the max for me.. i am not going to get with a guy that has kids with a whole bunch of women.. tooooooo much drama :wacko::angry::no:

It would have been more financially sound for him if he wanked instead. :devil:

The guy isn't going to pay $500K in child support so the taxpayers will get stuck with most of the bill. Veal is an extreme example of the fairly common problem of too many women getting knocked up by guys who can't support the mothers or their offspring.
