My sponsor doesn't have their tax return forms ! What can I do? It says it can take up to 60 days to get replacements... I don't care about green card, my priority is my EAD, can I apply for EAD without the sponsor info?

Am I allowed to change my sponsor after arriving in the US? Or does it have to be the same person as when we first applied for the visa?

I just can't afford to wait this much longer to file my AOS.... what options do I have.. this is making me panic now,,I need to be able to work.

is your sponser REQUIRED to get ACTUAL tax forms?

if not, usually a tax transcript is sufficient - and can be gotten same day, into a fax machine - see

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Thank you very much. My sponsor is a joint sponsor and it says she only needs the transcipt, so this would do? How do I get a it same day? Just call that number on that page you gave me?

ya, the sponser should call, since it's THEIR tax stuff, not yours.

Faxed Transcripts arrive same day, mailed transcripts within 2 weeks.

Wanna go nuts? Have the sponser walk into any IRS office, get them within 90 minutes, walk out with tax transcripts in hand.

Thankyou very much, one last question, the instructions say that if a transcript photocopy is used, then w2's must be included, will a fax be the same as a photocopy?

My sponsor doesn't have w2's either so I am trying to avoid this too.

You're not reading the instructions correctly.

If you provide a photocopy of your tax return(s), you must include a copy of each and every Form W-2 and Form 1099 that relates to your return(s). Do not include copies of these Forms if you provide an IRS transcript of your return(s) rather than a photocopy.

The word "photocopy" is specifically referring to a photocopy of the tax return, and not a photocopy or FAX transmission of the transcript. I sent photocopies of my transcripts with my I-864 and had no problems. I specifically offered to give the original transcripts to the IO at the interview - TWICE - and she politely declined and said she didn't need them.

Did your joint sponsor have a house fire or something? I hope she isn't just tossing out her tax records every year after filing. She's required to keep those records for at least three years because of the chance of being audited by the IRS.

Thank you for the replies, I just thought maybe a fax would be looked upon as a photocopy! I don't know about my sponsor's tax filing habits, that's their business lol.
