VJers,

Question. While waiting her to get her K1 visa, I started to research to bring her kid over to USA. We included his name when we filed the K1 visa.

I did a bit of research and found the below:

==================================================================================

The documents required for K-2 visa are:

. Once she gets her K1 she has one year to file.

• Valid passport

• Form DS-156 , Nonimmigrant Visa Application, in duplicate with two recent color

photographs with a white background

• Copy of your official birth certificate issued by the Registrar of Births

• Completed Form I-134, Affidavit of Support, and supporting documents from your sponsor

• Complete medical examination report from one of the Embassy's panel physicians

• Bank draft for visa fee

====================================================================================

What do we do with DS-156? Do we mail it or do we bring it to the Manila embassy?

Also, I read some where that since he is 6yr old he might not need a passport (but he has one already just in case).

u have to prepare DS 156-157 2 copies each affix the photo to DS-156 right away (2x2/passport size) this will bring during the interview at the embassy .in ur application did u include him as to accompany or follow to join later? if u wrote him as to accompany she can bring all ur mentioned documents together the forms that i mentioned and ofcourse the valid passport for 6months or more.and u have to pay the appropriate fee of USD 350 at the BDO that would be in peso and base on the dollar exchange rate of the day. and he needs to undergo/ result medical examination that cost USD189.but if he will follow to join same requirements are needed other than the affidavit of support and if he will accompany by other person going there at state you should prepare/secure a form from DSWD (child protection law against abduction) :D Godbless and Gudluck on to ur journey.

you've listed the child in the I-129f petition, which is the first step. when applying for the visas you have two choices.

1. the child can apply for a K-2 Visa at the same time as the mom applies for a K-1 Visa.

2. if you choose follow to join, the K-2 visa has to be issued within one year from the date the K-1 Visa is issued.

the procedures for applying for the visas are basically the same, except the K-2 does not need the DS-156k.
