Looks like some filipino men don't like foreigners going to PI and taking their beautiful women.

facebookdel.icio.usbuzzdiggreddit›› Email›› PrintSAGINAW, Mich. -- Authorities in the Philippines said two gunmen fatally shot an American man and a Filipino woman, possibly due to the man's womanizing.

The Midland man, Steve Kindy, 41, and a Filipino woman, were killed in an ambush in the southern Philippine province of Lanao del Norte on Monday, Sept. 20, police said.

Senior police supt. Agrimero Cruz said two assailants opened fire on a passenger minibus in southern Iligan city's Mahayahay village on Monday.

Cruz said Kindy and a Filipino woman were killed and another Filipino woman was wounded. Police said the wounded woman was Kindy's girlfriend.

Iligan police officer Alibsar Daraba said Kindy was shot six times.

Police said the American's possible womanizing could have led to a motive. They were also considering a Quran-burning angle.

"We are looking at two angles. The first is if there is a connection to a statement regarding the burning of a Koran. Secondly, we are looking at a probable love triangle," said Senior Supt. Bernardo Reamon.

The incident was followed by another attack on a foreigner, a British ship captain who was shot on Tuesday while driving in Angeles City, north of Manila.

TV5 spoke with Kindy's family in Midland and they said this was his second trip to the Phillipenes this year.

Kindy first went in January and when he saw the conditions much of the children were living in, he wanted to return and find a way to help.

Family members said he returned in late August to continue his work helping orphans

I'm wondering what to think here. Having made several trips to the Philippines, I can attest that I feel as safe there as I do at home. I don't go around with lots of money, I stay with my sweetheart, I try not to make myself look conspicuous. Its hard to blend into the crowd where we live in Cubao, but maybe I'm less of a target than in places like Angeles or Subic, where a lot of Americans congregate. My Filipino co-worker who lives in GenSan said I should just write off most of the island of Mindanao, for my own safety.

I had some of my fiancee's relatives asking me what I thought of the Hostage-Taking situation at the Qurino Grandstand, and I told them "dumb things like this happen every day all over the world...that day it happened here."

Several thoughts,

If the reason for killing Kindy was because of someone else burning a book, then I have no respect for the killers, taga bukid.

2-For everyone who hates Americans, there are 10,000 foreigners that want to come to the US. Is it jealousy?

3- Maybe filipina women want 'canos, because they will have a better life.

4- 2 men jumping on a jeepney with loaded pistols and gunning down an unarmed man for any reason is the act of a coward.

Two trips to Butuan City, Mindanao this year. Not once did I feel threatened. Yes I stick out in a crowd. Everywhere I went, the people were so very nice. Great place! Wish I could say that about the south side of Chicago.

I agree I feel the same with My Fiance.

Do filipinas get "taken"? like they are objects without minds?

I thought they went of their own will.

Maybe they want Americanos, because Americanos don't treat filipinas like objects.

Americanos "taking" filipinas?

Not all Americanos treat Filipinas respectfully.

with that said according to Joy she belives most filipino men are womanizers so maybe the filipino men feel threatened socially by the thought of an Americano being one.
