Katy Perry Banned From Sesame Street

NEW YORK — Katy Perry's cleavage is fine for Russell Brand — not so for Elmo and Sesame Street.

The children's show says it won't air a taped segment featuring the "California Gurls" singer and Elmo. The pop star — who is known for her risque outfits — wore a gold bustier top as she sang a version of her hit "Hot N Cold." But some felt it was too revealing for the kid set.

Sesame Street said in a statement Thursday that in light of the "feedback we've received" after the bit was aired on YouTube, they won't include it on the show. While the show said it was still available on YouTube, it had been removed by the official Sesame Street YouTube channel. Other versions on YouTube have generated thousands of hits.

A rep for Perry said Thursday that Perry enjoyed her time with Sesame Street and Elmo, and pointed out that the clip is still online on her website.

I have seen Sesame Street more lately after not seeing it for many years. I don't know, I'd definitely think she is dressed more risque than many of the other celebrities I've seen on it lately.

Beats me. Is she trying to chase Elmo so that she can marry him? Looks like a wedding veil. I agree there is some strangeness involved in the wardrobe selections.

Her outfit is a tad low cut but for little ones they don't know the difference. How many mommies out there walk around the house in their bras getting ready in the morning when they have little ones at home? I did. My kids were too little to care.

Why were they working with her in the first place? Her music isn't what I'd consider appropriate for children, unless you want your kids singing things like this.

I think Katy Perry is very talented. I really like her California Girls video with Snoop where they're doing the CandyLand thing. I can watch that video on mute and it's still good....

This is what I don't understand. It's not like Sesame Street-aged kids should know that her dress was too low cut. If they did, uh, why are they watching Sesame Street?

Oh my - come on - if it was Sean Connery with an Elmo Sing-Along - no one would complain.

IMO, was totally 'out of scope' for Ms. Perry to do this, in that garb.

If she was more modestly dressed, then no room for complaints, ya?
