Obama: "Mexicans" Were Here "Long Before America Was Even An Idea"

"Long before America was even an idea, this land of plenty was home to many peoples. The British and French, the Dutch and Spanish, to Mexicans, to countless Indian tribes. We all shared the same land," President Obama told the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.

Mexico declared its independence on September 16, 1810. It was recognized on September 27, 1821.

The United States of America declared its independence in 1776.

The name "Mexico" itself was invented by invading Spaniards, and lumpen-majority of Mexicans are Metis--meaning that half of their genes come from the Spanish invaders. As well TOTUS forgets the fact that the word "America" derives from the name of cartographer Amerigo Vespucci, a contemporary of Columbus, and was first used during the lifetime of both!

This is on the same level as "I can see Russia from my house" only this time he really did say this.

Really?

Please don't try to inject fact into this. John Boy is trying to lampoon that Kenyan in the White House.

That sure went right over your head.

You sir, are a dumbass.

The name of Mexico entails the origin, history, and use of the name Mexico, which dates back to 14th century Mesoamerica.

Really now. We knew about the Americas in the 14th century?

DO you actually believe that, or are you just being deliberately obtuse? You should understand the context of what he was speaking of, it is quite clear.

You are right, the context is quite clear. He spoke about several countries, "The British and French, the Dutch and Spanish". He went an to say that "Mexicans", the people of the country of Mexico, were here long before America was even an idea. The context was countries. The country of Mexico wasn't here long before America, the common word used to describe the USA, was even an idea. What is next, referring to native indians before 1776 as Americans?

Johny-come-lately, you dumbass....

When the Spanish conquistadors besieged México-Tenochtitlan in 1521, it was almost completely destroyed. It was rebuilt during the following three years, after which it was designated as a municipality and capital of the vice-royalty of New Spain. In 1524 the municipality of Mexico City was established, known as México Tenustitlan, and as of 1585 became officially known simply Ciudad de México.[1] Mexico was used only to refer to the city, and later to a province within New Spain. It was not until the independence of the vice-royalty of New Spain that "Mexico" became the traditional and conventional short-form name of the country.

............

What were the indigenous people of the New World called when Columbus first arrived? (careful how you answer that)

Indians.

Oh, and your references are to words in use in the 16th century, not the 14th century.

One more thing, you have name called 3 times without my retaliation. One more time and a report will be made.

Indians.

Oh, see, you aren't as retarded as you pretend to be. They in fact were NOT from India, but were mistakenly named Indians by Columbus. Now go back and read that encyclopedia entry on the origins of the name, Mexico - so you'll stop being such a dumbass.

I can't watch the video, the paycheck gods have blocked it. I was commenting on the bit you added under the video. Nonetheless, it is clear what he meant. You are arguing semantics and ignoring any and all context. He meant the the people who would come to be Mexicans were here long before us. This is absolutely nothing like Palin saying "I can see Russia from my house" as if her location imbued foreign policy knowledge and experience. He was not perfectly clear in his speech, but you know what he was talking about. Don't delude yourself, you understood his reference, you are just nitpicking things to be selectively outraged about.

He knows....he's just pretending to be retarded. He gets all giddy whenever he sees an opportunity to bash Obama.
