Good day to all new and old vjs members for the success of their visa journeys and good luck to current fillers and interview scheduled members.i think it is paramount for the old successful members to guide the new ones on what to expect in the u.s.a once in in order to have more confidence in this site.it will cost no $ to assist our selves and for what the site is all about i know thousands of members never thought of it but will be willing to up date and post some of this issues raised for new ones.

1, application for social card.you will be told it takes 7-10days to receive the card but within 5-6 working days you will get it(i got mine 5 working days)

2, once you apply for the card you will receive a letter of application showing your request, with the letter you dont have to wait for your green card or social card to be out before you open a bank account, take along with you your international passport and the letter to the bank and the account will be opened immediately but will be asked to bring the social card to them once you have it for their up date(my bank account was opened in this manner)

3, for those that have their first degree in Nigeria ,i suggest you complete every arrangement with your university in the light of getting your transcript in future for evaluation against the u.s education.visit www.iacei.net for more infos.

4, as we all know that the united states cherish their citizens and give priority to their welfare it is important and a standard for most employee to have the knowledge about first aid and cpr if in search of a job as it will be requested for and it is ideal.it takes 2hrs-4hrs to get the first aid course on-line and about a day to get cpr on-line and your certificate ready immidiately for printing.this course fee is just $15 for each course.it can be google on net.

am delighted to share this few information as part of guide for new successful immigrant coming to the states and will continue to up date to a reasonable stage.

thanks to all and will be open for any assistance.

Thanks for sharing :)!

How quickly did you apply for you SSN? I have read on VJ that it took some people 2 weeks after POE to apply while others had to wait 4+ weeks because they were not in the system? Do some POE sites enter information into the system quicker than others?

@cece once you get to the poe your information must be entered into the government system which recognise you where ever you go as soon as they enter your registration number on your immigrant visa under the applicants number.i took my time by resting for 3-4 working days before i applied check my timeline and the date of my poe.cheers
