Has this ever been done? I just see such a large amount of people upset with USCIS, which is a government agency, I'd be surprised if nothing like this had ever happened. Maybe I am biased because of currently waiting for approval but it seems such lack of response and such long processing times warrants some actions.

I havent any problems with USCIS nor did any of my family while doing immirgration business.

IT's hard but sometimes they have a hard work load and it's still a benefit that we all are seeking and so we have to be patient with the process.

The current processing times are MUCH faster than what they used to be.

Remember, we are in a recession. Where is the US government going to get the money to re-vamp USCIS processing? Will that money come from the military budget? Or perhaps tax hikes? Perhaps we can just borrow more money from China!

Also, It's an election year. No one is going to vote in someone in favour of USCIS processing times which it affects such a small percentage of the population

I know it is tough, we waited 178 days for our NOA-1. That is longer than the current processing times. In fact, when we filed it was 7 month processing, so in just 1 years it has sped up a bit

Good luck

Actually, almost all USCIS funding comes from the fees collected for the processing of applications. If you read some of their reports it even breaks down how much of each fee goes to different costs - personnel, facilities, equipment, software.

USCIS set my expectation correct in saying the process might take 5 months or more depending on work load. So far I haven't had any problem with them yet. However, I do think they could use a big dosage of transparency especially since transparency is the cornerstone of good governance.

USCIS should make more of their data public. What they have on their website's dashboard gives us some visibility. More would be helpful. USCIS if you need a data analyst and are willing to compensate me handsomely for this, I am ready to discuss our future together. You have my address and my wife's address. Get back to me. Thanks.

i agree with you indigo. if they just made it that everyone knew where their case stood at certain points i think it would be easier. i know this would be a lot of work for them. probably work they don't need. but think about how much money they spend on people calling the 800 phone number trying to know where they stand. i am sure people would stuill call but maybe they could eliminate some of the questions or the problems.

You guys mean a detailed tracking such as Fedex or DHL provides :-)

When filed, when notice date issued, which adjudicator handles it, while pile/bin it is, where it stands with FBI, whether name check cleared or not, any other potential issues, RFE or not, if yes exact details, if it is touched for what reason, approximate but legible completion time etc.

I would love it to see. Indigo I am also ready to work with the USCIS if they pay handsomely :-) But generally, govt. employers are the lowest in terms of compensation, but they do provide some good benefits.

BTW, my case is touched today, making me aware that my file is NOT lost in the trash bin of the USCIS :-)

Since the fees for the petitions pay for the service, why not offer an expedited fee? The fee would pay for the service. I know I would pay more right now to put an end to this boring and useless wait.

As far as I know, expedited fee AKA premium processing is only available to businesses ($1000 I believe).

Not quite sure how that would work as immediate relative and family based immigration has a lot of categories with different immigrant visa number availability times.

Also, there's a question of fairness - would it mean only well off petitioners who can pay the fee get to bring their relatives faster? What about those who can't afford the regular fees let alone premium processing fee - you'd have a whole class action lawsuit based on that.

There is also the question of what happens if you pay the premium processing fee but your relative comes from one of the countries that require additional background checks (ranging from couple of weeks to couple of years) - they can't possibly skip that step just because someone paid premium processing fee.

I dont agree. It is like anything else in life. If you cant fly first class, then you fly coach. If you you cant afford or you want to economize then go to McDonald's instead of the steak house.

There is premium processing for business for $1000. I would pay $1000 right now if it meant I could be with my wife in a few weeks instead of many months.

According the major powers, the recession is over. We should all be able to spend lots of money now. Haven't you heard? LOL
