My fiance has been living without documents in Ireland for the past several years. He is in the process of trying to leave Ireland and go back to his home country in order to have his interview there. We have already received the NOA2 and are ready to move on. He has been trying to get his police certificate in Ireland for the past several months and was finally told by the local police that because there is a problem with his immigration status they cannot issue one to him unless he fixes his status. He doesn't want to go home until he gets this certificate, since we know it is required to continue with our K-1 Visa. Is there anyone above the local police that we should talk to? Does anyone have any advice or know an Irish immigration lawyer that they can recommend? We have a lawyer in the US but she cannot advise us about Irish law.
