How long does it take to obtain a police record?

Hi fellow VJs,

does anybody know how long it takes to obtain a police record in England? I just wondered if it's worth asking for that now. We're awaiting NOA2 but would like to be ready.

Love hurts

When you live an ocean away

When you change your sleep schedule to catch a few more moments

When you really need to be held and you have to imagine whilst your partner describes it

When you constantly refresh the USCIS website to see if you're getting any closer

Love Loves

When it repays you with the love of your life

When God finally answered your biggest prayer

When you can live life again in the real world but still have that eternal connection

When you wake up for to the beginning of the rest of your life with the person you fought so hard for

When you love somebody that much

You'll do anything

They say allow 40 days, and it really does take about that long, give or take a few days. So I'd advise that you go down to your local police station soon and fill out the paperwork to send off.

hello you guys..Im new on here and I saw your posting while browsing through and I would say that the 40 days is about right as thats how long I waited for my UK Police check to come to me from when I applied.

They dont actually give a police record here they give like a power of authority for Access to Data from the PNC ( Police Mational Computer ) but as I understand it this is accepted by the US Embassy. and like most people on here I aint no lawyer but I am just telling you this from my personal experience in hope it helps you out. I dont even know how to make a posting on here yet only done replies so far..maybe you could explain to me how you did this posting as I would like to maybe do one to update folks on where my application is at so far. Thanks and Good Luck to you both.

I would suggest getting it sorted now as I waited longer than the 40 days they say it will and I know others have waited longer for theirs too.

Ok great now before I go ahead and try and get hold of this. Are you sure this wouldn't be turned away if its given to me earlier than they ask for it? Like say....I get the next package of forms and it says blah blah need police check but I have it in hand with a date dating before I recieved the package asking me to obtain one. I really don't want any more stumbles on the way in the process. Would going for it this early be turned away?
