DCF Japan, 6 month rule?

I am planning on filing a DCF for my Japanese wife soon. I have been living here for 4 years. Last March I went home to look for a job, i stayed 5 months, and just returned back. My Japanese Visa is still active, I was still paying rent in Japan at the apartment i share with my wife.

When It says I need to be living in the country for 6 months CONTINUOUSLY, is this 5 month absense counting against me? I was still "living" here, or was I?

Any elucidation on this matter would be greatly, sincerely appreciated. Thank you in advance.

you better play some bullshit card when you go to drop off your stuff.

i was denied DCF because my visa was canceled, i left for 2 months, came back for 1 month and tried to submit it.

they MAY let you submit it if your visa is still valid the day of submission, maybe. the guy there almost let me submit it because i had only just left. but suddenly he decided that i had to have a valid visa that moment.

if they accept the docs (hopefully) and then decide you don't qualify they then foward it to korea. the process time for that is maybe only a little longer, but still faster than the USA.

avoid filing in the USA at ALL costs. make up some bullshit. stay in japan a good 2 months before you submit and say you intend to stay for longer. don't say you are leaving or anything!!!
