Tom about time...CONGRATS!!!

Thanks I & G I agree with that!!! haha

I was looking at Kayaks over the weekend in the Knoxville TN area and visited with some friends. I left on Friday and I didn't have a chance to speak with my wife but was able to monitor emails. There was no information about here receiving the Courier package so I was thinking things are moving slowly cause of the holidays. When I got home on Monday my wife calls me. That's how we have worked it because she has no home phone and if she is at work I don't want to disturb her. So she calls and is excited cause she has her VISA . It was delivered Saturday evening! Whoa! The kicker is that is was delivered by an Embassy Employee and not a courier. Isn't that nuts. For those who don't know or follow my trials and tribulation I was pi$$ed for the last month about the poor service I felt the embassy was providing. I made phone calls, sent letters and emails inquiry's to my Congressman and Senators office. They were telling me there was not much they could do, yada, yada .. and I told them that they could try, that's something. It might have been a coincidence ( I like to think it was me ..Feeds my ego :innocent: ) because I had already been waiting 6 weeks for the Embassy to get off its A$$ but within a week of my contacting them my wife got her VISA and it was delivered by and Embassy employee.

So if you take anything away from all of this it in my view should be don't give up. These people work for us and they need to be reminded from time to time that everyone has a boss.

I am just happy that its finally done. She will now get her CFO and look for a plane with an empty seat using the ticket I got for her earlier. I will now be silent..haha   :hehe: maybe  and wait for her arrival in January sometime.:hehe:

A bit of bad news guys. My husband's dad died last night. My husband did not receive his resident card or social security card yet. He wants to travel back to Guyana to make arrangements for the funeral. I'm not sure how to proceed. Does he file the I-131 and schedule an infopass? :( :( :help: :help:

Jujus wife, so sorry to hear this sad news, but the stamp on your passport is fine...my friend just travelled to Chile with no green card, just the stamp on her passport... May God give you both strength at this time of sorrow...

Oh No. I am so sorry for the both of you and your husbands family. I lost my mother 3 years ago and it really affected me more than I would have imagined.

I agree with Emily. You have several months which you can use the Visa for but just in case make a phone call. I would also have documentation of your father in-laws death with your husband so that he can show anyone who may ask or not believe. I also think you can get a discounted ticket if you speak with the airlines. Again My Deepest Sympathies to you and your husband.

Sorry to hear about your hubby's father passing away. God is his strenght. I believe the stamp on his passport at the POE is good for a year and that serves as his temporary GC.

Sorry to hear about your loss. You need to make sure you can travel. I thought the visa was only good for one entrance to the US. I am positive the lady at the USEM told me that.

Again sorry to hear the news.

I'm sorry to hear the sad news jujuswife. My condolences to you and your husband.

The visa itself is good for 6 months and one entry only. However the stamp on your husband's passport (the one stamped upon arrival) is an endorsement and temporary I-551 or green card, so yes he can travel back to his country.

The wife passed her written test for her drivers license but has never driven a car a day in her life. I took her out to drive a little but this is gonna be a tough one.

So they applied for the SS on monday dec 20 & got the card the next monday the 27th (mom only) super fast... Now I just cant get my dad to stop stressing the mail box... (looking for his card perhaps  ) Took them today and opened a bank account and then mom got her tennessee ID and dad got his driver's license (class do as I promised... nothing else to do leagally for them (geeez). Sent off my brother's I-130 on dec 28th was awaiting that SSN since my mom is the petitioner F2A. Guess i will call USCIS.. I'm bored just wanna see what's the deal with the welcome letters and green cards.. where's the christmas spirit ( haha they just got here)...?

Mom/dad will go back home come jan. 3 2011 and be gone for 6 months (told them to get their butts here within 6 months so they wont be questioned or just stay where they are).

Chirstmas was great for them - they have been travelling every december-jan to Nashvile,TN since 1997 and havent seen snow until now and just cant get them to stop talking about it (geeez)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!

Happy New Year to everyone and I hope Christmas was great for you all. All is well with me and the hubby. He wasn't able to go back for the funeral because we just could not get a ticket for him. He is ok with it though. He received his green card within three weeks. However, last week he finally went to apply for the social security card, so perhaps he will get it this week. He already has a job lined up for him and he is eager to work. He is studying for his driver's permit, but he has to wait for the social security card before he can go in and take it.
