Hi , No she has not gone to her medical yet. She has been trying to call them for some questions she has but the line is always busy. My wife will hopefully go this week because I dont want her to wait till the last minute. Just in case something pops up.

Your appointment letter is needed and you need also to bring you passport and a few photos. Plus the $$ to pay for it in pesos. About 11-12,000. Here is a link you should read that may help you.

I'm a bit upset today which actually spilled over from yesterday. Here is the story. In Guyana, there are only three doctors listed that are authorized to do the medical. My husband tried to call all of them and he was only able to reach one of them yesterday to schedule the medical. He told this doctor that he recently received several required vaccines and he will probably only need the physical and x-ray and blood test. He asked her how much it will cost. She replied that it would cost him $36,000 GYD and an additional $12,000 GYD for the Visa(this really confused me because I don't know what that means). That is a total of $240 USD once it is converted. Now the problem I have with this cost quote is that on the U.S. Embassy website it says that the cost for someone in my husband's age group should not exceed $15,000 GYD, which is only $75.00. Now, the price is only based on the physical, x-ray and blood test. If my husband needs to do any other medical procedures then the cost would go up. I don't anticipate he will have to do anything else because he recently visited the doctor for a check up and he also received all the required vaccines.

I am really thinking of contacting the embassy and reporting this doctor because she hasn't even met my husband yet and she is trying to jack-up the cost. What do you guys think? Should we cave in and pay the money or report her? My husband will still try to reach one of the other two doctors. BTW I realized that the third doctor shares all of the same phone numbers with the initial doctor that my husband called, so it wouldn't surprise me if that doctor quotes the same cost.

Well.. feel you. There are only 3 doctors for immmigration in Jamaica as well. I spoke with the people at the doc's office and they told me for my mom/dad who does not have the "shot-record" will pay the full price at $20.000 JMD each which is USD $450.00 for both of them... That's Crazy... I thought it was normal.

Honestly.. I dont think the cost would be different ... the other office would loose business so they probably mock the other's medical cost.

*** So my mom asked if she could go to HER personal doc/ local office and get the necessary shots .. they offce said no.. any (NEW) shots the applicant get in the last 2-3 months wont wont the embssy requires that they be given there.. ***

It sucks because the doctor asked my husband if he has his immunization record and he told her yes because he just received a new one from the Ministry of health that indicates that he received several new shots.

I don't mind us paying extra, I just don't want to be robbed. I hate corruption so if there is a chance that this doctor is corrupt I would report her.

Yeah she got her letter the same time I did. She was cc'd on the email... Take care of that cold. You need to take it with you for the medical. She will use her old passport and then take her new one she is getting on Oct 21 with her to her interview.

Look at the email your husband forwarded maybe they have your email wrong. Not that it matters much at this stage. Get well soon

I dont know if its corrupt. In Manila they charge $200 + for a medical for each person and any shots are included in that price. Physical take 2 day to perform there. I would not think they are trying to get more money. These facilities are approved by the US Goverment and I would think their business practices are monitored from time to time as we are forced to use them. Just my view.

I would have believed that but because the price schedule is posted on the Embassy website as costing him $15,000 GYD without shots that makes me skeptical. He received his shots; she hasn't even met him yet to confirm that he received the required shots so she shouldn't quote him such a high price. if we have to pay the $240 USD we will pay it as long as it is warranted. I'm just venting because I'm not there to help my husband through this process.

No Jujus wife YOU are CORRECT!!! my husband's embassy says the amount as well and I just checked the price they quoted me on the phone and it's off by a couple of dollars.. so it's correct in my case, It's totally unfair that they are jacking up the price... they are contracted by the US embassy and they should honor the price quoted by the embassy...

Tom is not a matter of money it's the principle..no one wants to be robbed...we spent enough already!!!

Please Have him call the other doctor I hope they are a little bit more honest, shame on them!! My husband is only paying $182.00 and that's pretty close to the embassy which says 170 dollars!!!

Hey Waiter that is wonderful news. It looks like you will get the IR-1, which would be perfect. Allows you to bypass the AOS stage.   You have been waiting a long time for this so I don't think you should worry about AP. I know someone from Pakistan that got his wife here in less than a year and he had only met her a few months before he filed. She didn't have to do AP. from reading the different threads on VJ most male beneficiaries are subjected to AP. You just focus on the interview going well and you will have your wife here soon.

Juju's Thank you. I really hope so too.
