Just a question that has been bothering me. If documents needed to be translated, is the person applying allowed to do the translating themselves? Or does it have to be done by someone of authority?

Anyone, including petitioner or beneficiary is allowed to do the translation. However there needs to be a proper statement attached to the translation stating that the "translator" is fluent (or competent) in both English and whatever the foreign language is to perform the translation.

Good luck.
