Hi everybody! we are hoping that someone can give their brilliant knowledge about our situation!, my wife and i went to the civil surgeons office for the required physical exam for the AOS.however during the visit we discovered my wife was pregnant which prevented the chest xray(required becoz of positive tb skin test)if your positive to tb skin test it doesnt mean you have tuberculosis. the civil surgeon signed the papers, but also indicated that no chest xray was given due to the pregnancy.does anybody know how this will affect our filing of AOS?

Hi there.

I'm 7 months pregnant also and recently went to the civil surgeon here in Tallahassee, FL. He could not give me a chest x-ray either, unless my OB authorizes one. Basically what could happen is that the application could be on hold until I can get an x-ray done...I learned that the CD that St. Luke's gave me is useless without a chest x-ray report (which is basically the interpretation of the results)...and it was included in the brown envelope we surrendered at the POE. So like you I am on a holding pattern to see if they want me to have one...hopefully they will not because I did have TB several years ago and was treated for it (we included the medical summary my doctors in Manila prepared for me detailing my treatment and prognosis).

There are three phases to testing if you have TB: TST (skin test) + chest x-ray + sputum test.

If your skin test results are positive (and that will happen because Filipinos are exposed to the virus all the time), then a chest x-ray would be required. If the chest x-ray is negative, then that would be definitive proof to the doctors that you don't have TB.

How far along is your wife?
