I jsut received an e-mail saying our visa has been approved and that they mailed NOA2 yesterday, the 20th. What I want to know is, how long should I wait before calling NVC for a new case number? I have tried researching on this website cause I'm sure this information is here somewhere, but all I could find were K1 guides, which says I should wait two weeks before calling NVC... However I think have read a few people stating they called after a few days and they were able to obtain a new case number. So what is it?

And also, for those of you who have gone through this, how long did it take for NVC to send your case to the american embassy at the beneficiary s home country?

I'm sorry if these are mundane questions, but I looked for the answers and couldn't find it.

Thank you

Wow someone got an approval?! :wow: I was under the impression that both service centers had ground to a complete halt. When did you file?

When you get a moment, it would be really helpful to the rest of the VJ community if you would update your timeline!

Hello

You recieved the petition approval correct? It really isn't the VISA Approval... That will come after your interview...

It will take anywhere from 1-2 weeks to get to Embassy.. However, NVC will have it pretty quick.. It was less than 3 days for me.. I did not wait for the NOA2 to arrive.. I called NVC about 5 days after getting the email notification and they had already sent my case to Bogota...

Give NVC 5 days, then call...

Kenny, yeah I know it's not the visa per se. It was just the petition, yes.

I will be calling them soon, thank you!

When I call, should I just give them my case number at USCSIS?

Thank you everyone for taking the time to reply.

Yes, give them your USCIS case number when you call...the AVR will instruct you to punch it in.

Sorry, this doesn't WORK for a K-1 visa, at all.

Must Get a Human, at NVC, instead.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Whoa, really? :( That's kind of sad...it worked for us at the time. Has the NVC AVR changed a lot since then? We called NVC and punched in the USCIS case number, then they gave my husband the NVC case number.

Must Get a Human™, at NVC, instead.

Yeah, you must talk to a Human™ at NVC. Information about K1s isn't available through the automated system. They will need your USCIS case number, the petitioner's name and date of birth and the beneficiary's name and DOB. They will then give you your DOS (consulate) case #.

And, I would start calling tomorrow. You can try today but it may be a little soon. Or, maybe not....

Good luck!
