I am shopping around for a one-way plane ticket from MNL to SFO for my fiancee.. does any one know a place, travel agency, or a website where I can find a good price for the one way trip? Let's just say the trip will be in November, from Manila to San Francisco, California. :)

Are you sure about this? PAL has announced a general strike, to start Oct. 30. I find their prices have greatly increased.

good day..I just arrived in San Francisco from Manila..I flew with PAL(Philippine Airlines)..it's a nice airline..my fiance booked my ticket through Expedia(you can also book thru PAL's website) and i just printed out the itinerary and that's the one I presented at NAIA Terminal 2 airport during my departure...I had a non-stop flight(12:30 hours)..they serve good food as well...btw, the Customs and Immigration Officers @ SFO International Airport were so nice..no hassle...God bless on her trip...

Chinook bought her ticket to the U.S. in her hometown of Bacolod from a college batchmate who works for a local travel agency.

On many airlines, a one way ticket is going to cost you almost as much as a round trip. A lot of times, all the discount fare sites can't/don't have very good deals on one ways. You might actually just call some of the airlines like united/northwest. Philippine Airlines also use to have a discounted fare for a fiance, but like one member said, they might go on strike at any time. Any while I fly them in the philippines when I am there, I will not be using them on the international portion again.

one way is very much cheaper than roundtrip. The old ways of airlines screwing doesnt work anymore. Go to china airlines. I flew there round trip to Man-SFO for under $1000 in May 2010. I checked recently, same flight was $575 plus tax, under $700 with. I thought they were a phenominal airline.

I really do hope that the old ways are over, now if someone would only tell the airlines. I did several searches and didn't look much different than it use too. With a round trip ticket dfw/mnl around $1000, one way being around $750-$800. I will admit that I didn't spend a lot of time searching, however, the airlines still do and will always hold the upper hand. While China Airlines does have great prices, I myself prefer airlines that have qualified pilots. Not saying that China Airlines used these pilots, but if the gov't admitted that almost 200 were not qualified, I wonder how many really were not, are not, qualified. Oh well, sorry can't get the link to work.

Well the airlines will still screw you and they always have the upper hand. Only one worse than airlines is the IRS.

Anyways, I understand your point about pilot traing. But the article, even though it says chinese pilots, is referring to domestic smaller airlines and aircraft just as the Embriar discussed in the article. I really doubt that any pilot that can and does fly a heavy ( 767,777,747,AB 320,340 or 380), is doing that on a fraudulant license. Matter of fact, my pilots werent Chinese anyways but Caucasian.
