Hi everyone!

Question: Why do we need to carry the documentation and forms (I130 and I864) to the consulate interview if we already sent it to NVC? It supposes that they will return that to me at the interview, right?

They don't return the petition or the I-864. They return the marriage licence, birth certificates, etc, however.

We brought a copy of the entire packet in case (it made me feel more relaxed)

Good luck

I think it is simply a good idea to carry it to the interview, though it is certainly not a requirement as it was already submitted to the NVC.

It is more like being prepared in case something comes up.

It may be possible that the CO will ask a question relating to something about those documents. Something minor - like a mistake filling out one of the forms - or a question about job/employment history, etc.

As a backup resource you can refer the CO to a previously submitted form and ask them to review that.
