Timeline

Hey there, just a quick question!

When looking at the USCIS website for CSC, it says the 129F processing time is 5 months, but VJ's timeline for NOA1 to NOA2 says 90 days.

Is the 5 months the entire time it takes from getting your first receipt to having the approved visa in your hand? Why are to two timelines so vastly different?

Thanks!

the USCIS posted time is the "don't bother us until this amount of time has passed" time. You call them before that and they will say " call back after you hit 5 months" The VJ time is based on what is currently happening but that will slow up a bit soon because other application windows open and distract the employees a bit.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Where it says 5 months on USCIS site means thats how long it is taking on an approximate timeing. If you read it it says that if they are processing ahead of time or on schedule it will say 5 months. Giving a definite time otherwise it will state more if you look at the other forms. Depending on where yu lodged depends on how long too. Ours was NOA 1 9th March approved NOA 2 23rd June. Be patient we all had to wait lol.

The timeline average on VisaJourney changes all the time, sometimes daily, depending on how many people continue to update their timelines and how many get fed up with reading while waiting and stop posting, etc.

It can happen in as little as 3 months from NOA1 to interview (like mine :) ) or it can take 5 months to get your NOA2 before it hits the NVC and embassy. Every case is different.

There's a story that floats around VJ from time to time that originated with an immigration attorney who filed 2 K2 visas for identical twins coming over with their mother who was getting a K1. The petitions were identical except for the first names. One took 2 to 3 months, the other took closer to 8 months. There's no rhyme or reason as to why one petition takes longer. It's all based on when someone pulls the file off of The Shelf and starts to work on it, and where in their pile it ends up.

When a petition comes in, once it's been logged and the NOA1 issued, it goes on The Shelf. As adjudicators get through a bunch of files, they come back to The Shelf and grab another stack. You could get lucky and your file could be at the front of a stack, or in the middle of a bunch of easy ones. You COULD end up at the bottom of a stack with a really difficult one above it that makes the adjudicator want to pull their hair out, and therefore takes much longer to get through. You just never know. (Life = box of choclates, and all that.)

Wherever your file is, and however long it takes, good luck to you.
