you can go to cfo to take the seminar even without her passport but you still need to go back to CFO office after she get her passport with visa coz they will stamp it...they will not stamp it without her visa

The US government doesn't care about the CFO (not required by USA) but.....You can not leave the Philippines without the CFO stamp on your passport (required by Philippine government).....which means you must go thru the CFO course....

This is the link to the CFO website. It will explain what must be done to satisfy the Philippine government.

CFO Website

You must have the passport & visa before you can have the CFO stamp......you can complete the CFO course before you have have the passport/visa....but you can't get the stamp which is what you must show at the airport before they will allow you to leave.

These are what you need to attend the CFO course:

Requirements for Attendance

For the passport you can look here.....there are several options to where/how to get a Philippine passport...

Our prayers will be with you........

Hey guys. :) Congratulations! We were married in 2009 too. :D

I see you guys are filing through Direct Consular Filing (DCF), and your I-130 is in process...have you been living in the Philippines for 6 months or more?

Actually since you guys are married, your wife can get her passport, and she can go to SMEF-COW to complete part of the requirement even without a visa...which is the counseling for spouses or fiancees of US Citizens. SMEF-COW is in Quezon City, very accessible via LRT2, I believe.

After the counseling, your wife will receive a blue certificate of completion. The fee is Php 250, and she has some documents to present when she registers. Here is their website: http://www.smef-cow-phil.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=62&Itemid=68

Now after your wife receives her visa, she must secure the CFO sticker before her departure. She can also get it at SMEF-COW; CFO has a satellite office behind their building. No crazy lines, no waiting. The fee is Php 400, and the documents she has to present are listed in the link that garysworld n ana provided you. One of the requirements is that blue certificate of completion that SMEF-COW will give you after you complete the counseling.

Hope this helps.

do you have to finish the CFO class before you get your visa? My wife hasn't gotten her passport yet, so do we get her passport and then go to the CFO? or do we go to the CFO and then get her passport? Where do we get a passport? thank you for anyone who can help me figure this out :)

Very lucky! DCF filers can expect faster processing times...you will have to establish domicile in the U.S., but I'm not sure at what point in the process. You may want to do some research on the DCF forum as well.

Good luck with your journey!
