Hello! I hope all is well with everyone and things are progressing as you desire. My name is Ana and I am married to a Mexican man, going on 12 years now. We have 3 children, DS (16) yes, we lived together long before having been married. DD (b.5/2001 d. 11/2003 Krabbe Leukodystrophy), DD (7), and DD (4). My husband lived and worked in the U.S. for 17 years illegally. My oldest DD (23) from a previous marriage also married an man from Mexico. They are starting their paperwork (continuing actually) as well. I will let her tell you their story, it is a rather detailed and difficult one and not mine to tell. However, because of a turn of events, my SIL took a VD in February of this year. We decided to pack up and move here with them. WOW! I do not know if we made the correct decision, but I was tired of wondering when it would be my husbands turn to be picked up so I thought we would do better to come back to MX and start paperwork from here.

Let me start with, "I hate it!" Yes, I am rather spoiled, and I want to return back to my home state to be with family and long time friends and the life I use to know. It isn't very pleasant where we are, and I do not know how much more of this I can take. I have no insurance here, and am in a bad situation. I have a Chiari malformation in my brain that requires surgery. I was scheduled for the surgery, but had to call it off. It has been debilitating at best. On good days, we actually have water! On bad days, we do not even have that. There is more, but I will not go on about that now.

So here I am, trying to get my family back over the border, legally this time, and to have surgery and live a nice quiet life. My husband and SIL have both been offered their jobs back upon returning, we have places to live, and I have a 'nest egg' with an investment company in the U.S. My husband has a valid drivers license from the state in which we lived, I think that is how he got by for so long without getting picked up.

We had an attorney. Our DD was in hospice for a year before she died, and the doctor that owned the hospice organization recommended her husband who was an immigration attorney. After shelling out approx 5,000.USD to this man, he lied to us by giving us a letter from him, telling us if my hunny ever got pulled over, the letter would keep him from going to jail, or being deported. We recommended him to my SIL. I feel very bad about that now. It was he who was pulled over at a checkpoint in the small town in which we lived. The letter did nothing but land him in court where he was offered a deportation or a VD. He chose the latter. I said I would not tell his story, but It does tie into ours, so I guess I must tell parts of it, no?

So, given our situation, and my SIL's, I am hoping for a nice easy process, but I remain doubtful being the pessimists that I happen to be. I have been reading this site for a few days and see it is full of experience and wonderful stories. I hope ours can be one at some point. I have so many questions, and will be posting often I am sure.
