We filed in late May 2010 to our local office. They told us we needed documents, that were already sent in the first package. We did biometrics just a few weeks after filing. The case was transferred to CA servicing center. Everything is good up until now, right? Well, here comes the kicker...

NOTHING happened for nearly 2 months. Then, our case was transferred back to the local office. Then NOTHING for weeks. We made an infopass appointment, and the day after we made the appointment our case was transferred to some unkown location. (it just said "transferred to a uscis office"). During the infopass appointment, the woman said the following:

The case never left CA servicing center. "Someone probably just thought your case needed an interview, and they were going to send it to the local office, but they didn't actually send it." (oh well that's great. I'm glad they let just anybody push a button on a keyboard that will eventually affect our lives in a HUGE way. So what's been going on with it the past 3 months. Has it just been sitting there?) her response "I don't know. I can't explain why they did that" (lady, "they" are YOU. You work for this agency, don't you? So what do we do now?) "Your case is in the queue at the National Benefits Center to be assigned an appointment for an interview."

Really???? After waiting months, expecting everything to go smoothly, we have to wait even longer for an interview??? Why? That's stupid. My husband and I have a REAL marriage. We are not one of those couples who have "red flags" all over their marriage (who, by the way, probably already got their greencard before us anyway). What about our simple, honest, case would cause us to have an interview? It's just a ridiculous process. We want to go on with our lives, travel back to his country to visit family....but we have to wait.

I know many of you have had similar situations, and some have been waiting so much longer than I can imagine. Good luck to all of us in this crazy game of Immigration!

Sometimes it helps to vent, doesn't it?

USCIS is like an old bookstore in an old town. They put newly arrived books on some stacks, and sometimes they lay untouched for quite some time. Too much to do. Sometimes a stack falls over, sometimes a book slides under a table. Unless somebody requests a certain book ("We should have it somewhere her; why don't you come back in a few days!"), it will go unnoticed. If you ask for that book constantly, however, some bookstore employee will reluctantly look for it.

The difference between an application that is adjudicated quickly and one that seems to take forever is just how long it sits somewhere untouched. In total, your AOS application takes between approximately 20 minutes and an hour.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

We filed in Jan 2010 - we are still waiting, same thing happened with us about it just sitting then being transferred back, then got interview letter the same week as interview because the change of address we verified at every info pass, bio appt, etc that was in place, was not in place at this interview office, then after the interview from Heck on aug 26th, we were told the officer would send a letter with what he wanted from us - like updated support form and "few other things" - now almost 4 weeks later, we are still waiting for letter. We called this week to check if any note about the letter was sent, and was told some local offices are not required to leaves notes on the cases, and if we had a interview on the 26th, then please wait 90 days till we do inquiry about our case. she said was no notes we even had a interview or any requests for more evidence - so could be worse :hehe: we just check mail everyday and go on about our lives as best we can.

is great paying over a 1000 to have the government screw you :P
