Hello. i been asking alot, i know lol

when i came to the united states. no body told us the spouse can add her/his husband/wife on the tax return as a Joint. so it passed 2007 and 2008 and then we found out that we can do it. so we went to Tax Office to ask her if my spouse can add me to her Tax. so the lady said yes u can do that. then she did all the paper work done for us and we sent them to the federal Department, and yes we had no problem to get money back from them (the State and federal) of 2007-2008 for 2 years. Now the question is do u think i will have any problem about this when i go to my Citizenship interview??? i mean what if the IO ask me why i didn't file on time ? (we have no problems with Taxes)

Now would u please someone help me and tell me what does this mean,

Have you ever faild to file a requierd Tax return?

Thanks alot guys and ladies.

1) Your spouse and you should have filed jointly. If you did not work in 2007 and 2008, then she should at least have filed as "being married."

2) You can always amend old tax returns, if needed to. No problem.

3) Even if you were to file tax returns late, as in you were to file coming Monday for 2007 and 2008, you AFTERWARD could truthfully claimed that you have never FAILED to file, as they basically only want to know if you OWE the IRS money or not.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

I used tax transcripts sent to me directly from the IRS office. All three years were just leaflets. I mean one to three pages per year for 3 years consecutively. I had no problems with USCIS on that. I have seen most folks here recommend using the transcripts, if possible. So if you are in the position to get a transcript (easy to request from IRS), go ahead, and use the transcripts. Just an opinion, though. Good luck!

Tax transcripts (mine were 6 pages each), are the very best way to go. It takes about 2 weeks to get them by mail.

Met CPAs' that didn't know how to fill out a 1040, so don't feel bad. Also a huge source of income for tax accountants, never seemed right to me that our tax system has to be so complicated that you have to pay someone to be able to pay your taxes. Makes me wonder if the guys that write the forms are getting a kickback from these tax accountants.

But from what you say, you managed to get your 2007 and 2008 forms corrected, and you even got a refund? Assume your 2009 return is corrected, so you should be okay.

Seems like the USCIS's idea of romance, is you and your spouse paying taxes together, isn't that sweet?

At least now you can download your tax forms from the internet, and the IRS gives you a choice with over 1,100 different forms, but you better chose the right one.
