After my fiancée cleared her medical at Saint Luke’s they took her passport and indicated that they would forward it to the Embassy. When I asked her if they did this with the other ladies, she replied yes. Is anyone aware of this practice? Is this procedure done for all candidates once they have passed their medical or only those that were held up previously at some point in their medical?

That is standard procedure......

Regardless of who takes your passport (VFS, Medical Center, Embassy, etc), you should make a scanned copy AND photocopy of every page of your passport. The best time to do this will be after the NVC has awarded your interview letter.

If you are from the Philippines, why do this? If the passport is lost, the person will have to get another one reguardless if they have copies of it. The copies do no good at this stage.
