Sweet you must be addressing Sofiyya's big azz comment! I think not because like Sofiyya you also have your Muslim blinders on.

Now, one way you could rephrase this to not sound like an awful person would be to say, "I think we are all at fault for our negative posts however, I feel like people are missing the point of my posts because they are not fully open to hearing what I'm saying

No I can't because I think Sofiyya is not addressing the real problem here. What you and Sofiyya call attacking I call pointing out the obvious. I think as a country we have made it clear and we understand that it is not all Muslims.

Here's one way you could change this, "I will try to make my point without insulting other people because I realize that insulting people only causes people to miss most of what I'm saying because they are no longer open to discussion. It certainly was not my goal to come across that way and make people attacked. I hope that we can all be more aware of what we're saying and discuss continue to discuss these sensitive topics without offending people."

Yea, it's BS to expect over one billion Muslims all over the world to be treated like a chorus. Muslims speaking out falls on deaf ears anyway. The average non-Muslim is more interested in Lady Gaga and doesn't take the effort to look for us.

Are you suddenly feeling the urge to give Sofiyya the same lecture...I think not! Take your Muslim blinders off!

I think it's very sad to see that there are people coming from such angry and bitter places on this board. I would hope that even in disagreeing people could find some common ground and at least have the decency to show respect and not insult people. Differing opinions are wonderful things, they help us to grow as people and to see sides that we never would have. But being open to hearing those opinions and encouraging the discussion is critical. Shutting people down and telling them that their opinion/thought/feeling is not relevent by saying "Take your Muslim blinders off!" is counter-productive and reflects rather negatively on you as a person.

I think a lot of these posts from both sides have been thought provoking and stimulating to read and I hope that this continues to be a place where people can express themselves in respectful ways. I mean, it's what we teach kids to do... we should be able to do it too!
