I think these two comments pretty well sum up my reaction.

Before the last show started Rodjanaa and I agreed that we preferred Uli's designs, and during the course of the show we both felt that the collections reinforced our opinions. For myself, I would say that I would love to have my wife wear 10 of Uli's creations, and I know when, where, and for what purpose I would want her to wear them.

I could say the same for maybe 6 or 7 of Lauras, and only 3 or 4 of Jeffrey's or Michael's. Some of them I just did not like, for those that I did like I just don't know when or where they could be worn. Several of Michael's I could see a hooker wearing to attract customers, as for Jeffrey his green stripe outfits reminded me of awnings and circus clowns.

I think the producer's did select the sound bites and vignettes used during the course of the series with an eye towards creating viewer interest via controversy and tension rather than by creating interest in what the designers are truly like as people. They did start to provide some balance in their depiction of the designers in the last two shows, Jeffrey in particular underwent a dramatic transformation from arrogant and aloof to a real human being. (Perhaps that should have been a clue.) Laura was portrayed much differently in the last show than in the previous several.

I don't think we can judge any of the designer's characters by what the producers selected to show us of them. What we saw were caricatures, creations intended to promote the show not the people.

....

There you have a designer where even the judges say

- "she understands about a woman's body"

- "I would wear every single one of your designs"

- "I was asked immediately afterwards where one can get her line"

(refering to Uli)

.....

....

Jeffrey was a hit because it was different, not because it would necessarily sell.

Thx for posting that :)

I think the article was pure fluff btw 'Oh Laura, how chic! She's a mom, you know! Oh however do you manage!'

Laura's all 'ladies, its all about being pretty, be like me, take the time, edit your wardrobe!'

bleh, if looking good is throwing your hair into a ponytail day after day for the rest of your life, no thank you!

But it's a shame...no fallout from the Jeffrey situation, none of her eating crow for being such a jealous and sore loser, nothing.
