Did a few quick Google searches for you, and from what I have read, you have to contact your airline about how to transport your pet...since you are bringing a Labrador, your likely option is that the pet will travel in the cargo section...and from what I have read most airlines need to be informed 6 to 8 weeks in advance of your departure so this can be arranged.

Here's a link to the fees on securing an export permit and a veterinary health certificate: http://en.allexperts.com/q/Travel-Pets-3101/2009/2/repatriating-Philippines-pets.htm

Here's a link to the CDC: http://www.cdc.gov/animalimportation/dogs.html

You also have to show proof that the dog has been vaccinated for rabies within the past 30 days of arriving in the U.S....otherwise they will quarantine the dog for 30 days after arriving in the U.S. (they will give your dog the vaccine and according to the CDC, it takes 30 days for the vaccine to take effect).

Call the airline and the Bureau of Animal Industry to confirm the information.

Depending on where you are headed certain destinations will not take dogs in cargo this time of year due to issues with the heat. So if you are heading to the southern US , especially the south west you may have to wait a few months.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

You need to check with the state also.

Hawaii used to make you quaranten your dog for 6 months so they could not bring disease into Hawaii.

That's a good point.

In Texas is much much hotter than Philippines.

If you would of been here last month it was like living in an Oven for about 1 month. Philippines is cool compared to Texas

Post what you find out, I may be try to bring a dog back from PI in the future, if it's not a big hassle. Did they give you an estimated cost?

i have the idea already it cost like US$200 in excess to the allowed size which is 45x45 (there was a bracket for every excess and a corresponding amt.)which is ok actually i am expecting that im gonna pay like the same as an adult fare but they told me if its fitted on the allowed space i wont pay anything thats according to DELTA airways but its just on the cargo area which i do not like ive heard about 90% of the pets esp dogs are found dead or sick after the long hrs of journey esp. from asian countries i was worried it might happen to my dog if ever. but there was an option too to carry on with the passenger (to be with ur dog the whole journey) . but ill take the risk just to bring my dog id rather bring him rather than to leave here in PI which i know for sure that im gonna take care of him and gives more happiness to my kids and fiance wants me to bring him at state because thats my 1st present from my fiance. thats why im asking for some shared experiences for some vj members here

Before spending money to travel all that way to get a dog, I suggest you call ahead and make sure the neighbors have not had a fiesta and ate lechon ASO or Lechon ERO. If they have had the fiesta ask if they saved you any crispy skin.

I want to know a real price also. I have done the research before, but lost interest because different airlines charge dogs as cargo differently than others. I am always on a foreign airline at some part of the trip.

If the $200.00 quote comes back realistic, then I would give more thought about bringing a dog or dogs back. A high pedigree Philippine French bulldog goes for pennies on the dollar compared to an AKC French bulldog. I have never had that breed, but have had Boston Terriers my whole life, and have bred cow dogs in the past. Just doing basic math based off my limited dog breeding experience, a mating pair of the Philippine French bulldogs could make a decent return on investment even without AKC papers. My wife already feeds other livestock for her daily chores, a few more dogs wouldn't be that hard.
