Congratz on the job offer! :star: When do you start your new job?

Moving is bad enough, but it's worse when you have to do it alone!

Chinook is doing great...she's working full-time as an RN...and she got her driver's license and is driving her own car. :)

We have been doing a lot of traveling too. We both love road trips.

You could for your own peace of mind, but the results will not be honored at St. Luke's.

From what I have read here, go for the sputum test...I read here recently about one of the members who was declared negative after the first smear test, I believe.

How long has it been since you were in Singapore? You may have had it then...just latent (inactive). That happens too.

hi, havent been to test yet my sched is nextweek.

just want to clarify with this latent/inactive one, when i do the sputum will i be positive if its latent and inactive?likewise during culture is there a possibility tobe positive?

All Filipinos are exposed to TB at some point in their lives.

So it's possible the TST skin test is positive and the chest x-ray is positive, but the sputum test is negative.

All 3 tests have to be positive for St. Luke's to say you have active TB, and need to be treated at the doctor's office (at St. Luke's on site).

Otherwise, what you have is latent/inactive TB.

Are they still requiring vaccines for latent TB as well? I heard at one point that even if you tested negative with Latent TB, you still had to undergo treatment...

guys i am planning to have my medical at st. lukes this coming monday. i was anxious with this sputum test so i want to have my medical at tne soonest to save time if ever they would require me to undergo sputum test. Will st. lukes allow me to do it even if i still dont have my appointment yet? my case was completed as of aug.31st.... i read somewhere that i can do it already but just want to make sure because im travelling from the province. :)

At the very least you should have your NVC case number (which starts with MNL) and an interview appointment at the U.S. Embassy.

Do a search on a VJ member named thepizzadude. He has some tips on how you can get your NVC case number and how to track your file from NVC to the U.S. Embassy...the information will help you get an interview without waiting for the U.S. Embassy letter.

Yes, you can complete your medical without having an interview appointment. You don't have to have an MNL case number either. Simply show the guard at St Lukes your NOA2.

If you feel more comfortable having your MNL case number in addition to your NOA2, simply call the National Visa Center (NVC) and ask them for it. Their phone number is 603-334-0700.

By the way, if you have your MNL case number, you can call the Embassy and make an interview appointment. You don't have to wait for a letter from the Embassy which may never arrive. Chinook never received a letter from the Embassy. She only received an email confirmation of her appointment shortly after I made her interview appointment.

I have been through the same process when I had my medical at St.Luke's. I had a previous tb infection and have taken the prescribed medication. After the medication, i had a lot of smear tests and had a culture test as well. However, St. Luke's has todo their own tests. If they find something in your chest xray, they will always require applicants to undergo sputum test (whether you like it or not.) If your smear tests turn out negative, you still have to wait for the sputum culture. Usually they don't call you before the release date of the result if it's negative. Goodluck to those who will be undergoing the sputum test!
