Hi! I'm kinda freaking out here. On August 13th my husband received a text message saying our I-130 was received and that a notice was sent to him through the mail. Over a month after that, we still haven't received the letter in the mail.

Is it really bad? And what was supposed to be in that letter? What's the next step?

Thank you in advance for your precious help and comfort.

the text message PROBABLY came about because the USC Spouse included a G-1145 form in the initial submittal, and

that text message should have included the receipt number.

'That letter' is the receipt notice, I-797-C formletter, and contains the receipt # .

With the receipt #, yer USC spouse can log in to the USCIS status portal, check status.

Did he completely copy out the text message to paper, somewhere? receipt # starts with WAC or EAC .

If this was the 'text message from USPS' - disregard all I've written above.

----

USC Spouse can also check in with the lockbox operations in Chicago, via email - use lockboxsupport@dhs.gov for the email address - include in the body:

petitioner's name, dob, ssn

beneficiary's name, dob

along with a query for 'what happened to my I-130 submittal?'

as there's been some issues with addresses on the forms in August, where the 'guidelines' the 'first-level reviewers' were using, were wrong, and the I-130 petition was kicked back.

----

alternatively - HEY - was the check cashed or presented for payment? the receipt # is printed on the back of it, sorta (add 1 to the numbers there, to get the actual receipt #)

Good Luck !
