I dont' think i'm being overly sensitive. Nab came into the thread ignorantly trying to pass off his little anecdotes as some sort of evidence, when in fact it was just him making sh!t up. No, I got your point, but I don't think you got mine. You posted that scenario in response to my post about certain crimes (felonies) being black or white, not disgression on the part of the officer. There is disgression allowed when it comes to lesser crimes and infractions. This would include "fix it" tickets like an illegal window tint.

The scenario you posted was moot because by your own admission, you were guilty of the infraction. Yes, it was a bit overzealous on the part of the 2nd cop, but it was well within the guidelines, and you were still breaking the law. I think the actions of the third cop are more appropriate. I'm not sure about your state, but where I live, there is no actual fine for those sorts of tickets, just a matter of fixing it and taking it to the highway patrol to sign off on a paper that you made the vehicle changes to address the citation.

What was between you and slim was between you 2.

My post was in regards to the OP posting which is as it states what not to say to a Police Officer and it mentions what not to do. Which is exactly what my post was regarding with a personal experience.

The story was the humor about how idiotic moments in your life can affect the outcome of a situation such as what happend to me and it was all brought on by me.

2nd cop may have been overzealous but drove home the point. He was the one that snapped my attention to getting the correct tags to have the tint. (sucks that someone had to do that)

In Illinois it is a 75 dollar fine and could be upped if the oddicer wished to driving with obstructed vision which is moving violation. I could be wrong.

OK, clear enough now, I thought that you posted that scenario in response to my post about officer discretion.

There is a video out there, probably on youtube made by the ACLU, it delineates your rights when being pulled over. The funny thing is that many of the things that they tell you that you can do will piss off the officer pulling you over. Things like 'you only have to roll down your window far enough to hand the officer your ID, registration, and proof of insurance". Yeah, I think that would fall under the category of "don't be a smartas$"

I meant, that in the eyes of a police officer, a felony is black and white, if they suspect that you've committed one, they will arrest you for it, and let either the watch commander or the D.A. sort out the final charges. When it comes to finally charging you and prosecuting you for something, yes, it is gray because a prosecutor would rather drop a charge down to something they can for sure win.

Which is really convenient for them.... while you sit in jail and wait for them to figure it out.

In the ILL state, the coppers can tow your car if your tint is too dark. If you can't see, you can't drive!

The Officers never stated that even the Sheriff who said he could aresst me for recieving a ticket fo rthe same offense within 24 hours.

The car wold obviously be towed if I were arrested.

The 20% all around except the Windshield (have a typical Brow) is legal with the plates.
