Hi Guys

I have my Green Card interview this month, we have everything we need i guess

what we are concerned about though is the injections/vaccinations we need.

we have looked on line and we are not totally sure what ones we definitely need

or have to have a record of having.....I know i am up to date with my tetanus but am

sure there is one i am missing.

Please can someone in plain English spell this out for us..I am male 41.

i guess you had already your vaccination done at your home country, usually at your age ( if you are 41) you`ll not need the supplement vaccination here.some vaccinations are not applicable at a certain age. i went to the interview with just the vaccination i did at my home country and they didnt ask me for the supplement.

look at your vaccination record from your doctor and post here which ones are not checked so i can make sure you dont need more.Good luck.

I have only just started the visa journey, but i went to my GP the other week to see what i might need at the age of 38. The same as you, i had a new Tetanus, Diptheria, polio vaccination done. I also had a MMR Vaccination whilst i was at it, just to be on the safe side.

And to be even more sure, before i had the MMR i had some bloodwork done. Basically to show that i was allready immune to chickenpox and rubella. And that i was clean and clear of Hep B, HIV, and syphillis. ...Yes i know i went a bit overboard, but it is better to be prepaired with too much evidence.

If, like me, you never had the MMR vaccination. and can't prove immunity through bloodwork, then at our age, that is the only extra one you might want to consider.

Unless you can prove what vaccinations you have had, they will either pump you full of all of it, or, in case you don't like this, run a few tests first which cost extra money and time. Usually after a day or two you'll have skin reactions which indicate the presence of antibodies. (I had that done.)

So don't worry about this, find what you have on vaccination records and otherwise just bring plenty of time and money.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

The complete list for you is only three shots

- Tdap (you already have, I guess)

- MMR

- Varicella (Common name is Chicken Pox - A lot of people get away with "I had Chickenpox when I was a kid" this is marked VH for Varicella History)

Nik got caught up on his vaccinations when he checked in with his GP to get his US blood pressure prescription set up. They didn't charge him extra besides the office visit!

out of interest... why are you asking about the vaccinations now? You said you have an AOS interview in a few weeks, therefore you would have received an RFE for anything you were missing if they thought that was the case... have you received an RFE? if not, why are you asking? Like I said, they would have RFE'd you before now if you needed more....

Many times they give you an RFE after the interview,or during it not before, especially for K-1 so it`s better to be ahead and dont miss the apportuntiy .having a complet medical test before the interview is better and safe for a quick immigration process.

gotta be honest with you, "especially for a K1" seems a bit of a stretch. I've seen maybe 1 person get RFE'd after the interview (though I'm sure it's more), and it wasn't a K1. K1's are more likely to get RFE'd BEFORE the interview, just like everyone else... however if you have some threads to show me or something to prove "especially K1's" to be fact, I'd be happy to read them... like I said, RFE would have come LONG before now, as they more-often-than-not do. Oh, and I can show you many many many threads of "UGH! RFE for the I-693!!" all done way before interview, some even before biometrics.

As a K1 AOS'er been-and-gone, and as someone who regularly is on the AOS (Family) forum (as well as writing an AOS guide), and gives regular advice on the topic to my K1 AOSer friends... no I-693 RFE after the interview has even been read, suggested or complained about to me or in any threads i've read. I'd probably see a CS to get a quote on the vaccination transcription, but wait till after the interview to see if it's even needed.. unless of course it's cheap then i'd do it now (or if money is no object).

The immunisation list is here: http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/PDF/wk/mm5901-Immunization.pdf page 2 has a great table. Find your age range and that'll give you an idea. You can go to a Health Clinic to get the shots if they're cheaper, but get the proof of the shots and take those to a CS who will transcribe them. You won't need a TB skin test because that's part of the medical, not the vaccination transcription, though a doc might try and convince you it's needed, it most definitely is not and I have links for that if you have issues there.

Good luck with your decision. Worst case scenario you get RFE'd after the interview, get the vaccinations transcribed, drop them off, green card approved. Best case scenario, no RFE and green card approved.. there is another worst case scenario that doesn't involve the I-693 so I won't jinx anything by mentioning it. like I said, Good luck with your decision :D
