It's not October yet, but we're the first group to schedule our own! Yay! We like that we could choose the date that worked best for our schedules and plans.

I've got some questions for the first of the October interviewees. These are both from the info you get when logged into http://canada.usvisa-info.com/ on the "View Visa Information" page.

1. Please arrive on time, but not earlier than 20 minutes before the scheduled appointment time.

No more waiting out in the cold on the left with no overhang at 06:30? First people in October, please report back whether this is so. Thanks!

2. Accompanying Persons

The following persons may accompany a visa applicant during his or her visit to the Consular Section:

  • Interpreters: An applicant may bring one interpreter if he does not speak English (or French if applying in Montreal or Quebec City) well enough to participate unassisted in the visa interview.
  • Special Needs Assistants: An applicant may bring one person to assist him if he is elderly, disabled, or a minor child.

The following persons may not be allowed into the U.S. Consular Section premises:

  • Attorneys: An applicant may not be accompanied by his or her attorney(s).
  • Drivers, friends, extra relatives, and others not specifically named above cannot be permitted to enter and will be asked to return to meet the applicant after the interview is complete.
  • Due to the limited size of the Consular Section waiting rooms, the high volume of visa applicants, and the time required to screen consular clients, other accompanying persons cannot and will not be admitted to the Consular Section.

Seriously? Does this include US Citizens, no longer allowed to accompany visa applicants? I so hope that's not true! :(

My letter stated that US citizen are allowed to accompany you. I don't see how they could deny a US citizen from entering their own consulate. Are you sure it's not in yours??

Question for all of you lucky enough to schedule interviews right now (I know, you all waited your turn!!!! I'm just happy SOMETHING is happening at Montreal these days!)... anywho, when you go to schedule, does it only give you options for October right now? Like Hendea was saying, if she wanted to schedule for November, would she have to wait til October to do that??

I'm just wondering for future reference, because there could be bad and exponentially WORSE times for me to schedule my interview around the teaching year, so I just wanted to prepare myself!

Good luck to everyone and again, I'm so happy something is happening at Montreal and hopefully this new system will help the backlog!

I think that they will only let us scheduale one month ahead..ie we are in Sept so we can book Oct....that is just my guess...the only issue I would see for waiting to scheduale is that the original petition expires...but with that said...my petition expired before the 1st date in Oct is available anyways so...I figure it should be an issue for them to extend my petition.

What you will see is a calender and you can arrow over to later months but the dates are not "blue" so when you click it says no interview time available on this date. Right now the only "blue" days are some in Oct.

If I remember correctly, I remember being told by a lady on the phone through DOS that they 'open' dates for interviews a month at a time.

I have no idea if you guys will be able to skip a month, but depending of your situation, I wouldn't want to postpone it any more than that. I mean, most of us have wanted more than necessary to get a date in the first place, I'd go ahead and book it, and work around it...

Eh, but that's just me, and I really have no business in you guys' topic! I'm excited for everyone though, this is really good news!

oh okay, awesome, thanks Hendea!

I saw on some of the forums you're kind of stressing over planning a biggish wedding and trying to work around BM's all over the world... trust me, I know the feeling. I hope it all works the way you plan!!!

Good luck! :)

Do you K-1 people need a packet 4 before you can schedule your interview? Us Cr-1's are not able to schedule our own so I'm just trying to figure out why there is barely any movement with our cases. I was completed on May 26 at the NVC and have missed out on an October date.

Yeah, I am really wondering if you need the packet 4 in your hands. Is there anything stopping you from scheduling as soon as they've logged your P3? Or would you have to wait until you know P4 is sent out?

Jeez...just when I feel like I understand every nuance in the process, they go and change it. Hopefully this speeds things up, though.
