Was a few yrs back---on the radio they interviewed the top USCIS dude and he said a lot more of it would be done electronically!! Guess thats slowly coming true

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I still can't get a calendar to show up! It just gives me the closest available date! Whereabouts on the screen does the calendar option come up? Is there a number to call? Help!

My guess is your Priority Date is a few days before March 11 (whenever USCIS sent your NOA1); and that until your Priority Date is activated in the system, you don't get to view the calendar. I don't know, it's just a guess.

The number to call would be the US Department of State, 1-202-663-1225, options 1, 4, 2, 3, 2, 0. They can tell you when your Packet 3 was logged in, and when your Packet 4 was mailed. Once your Packet 4 has been mailed, you should be able to view the calendar.

(If your Packet 4 has been mailed and you can't see the calendar, first try a different browser. If you're having trouble with the website http://canada.usvisa-info.com/ , e-mail contactus_en_CA@usvisa-info.com )

If you didn't get the calendar and didn't get an e-mail it sounds like you didn't really get an interview date. Log in and try again.

Did any of you pay the 350$ fee before schedualing your date?

No, K-1 applicants are able to schedule online without having paid the fee; we still bring it in person to interview.

I rushed through the scheduling because i was so excited

and selected "K1 visa" option last week

and it wasnt until 10 minutes ago when I read this thread that I realized I made a mistake

however, on my confirmation email...it says: Trip Purpose: Permanently Immigrate to the US (Fiance - K1/K2)

I should be good, right?

It automatically inserted "permanently immigrate to the us"

Everything looks fine, right????

Yeah Im pretty sure it should be ok....they have changed things in the last couple of days and I think now....we are to chooe the Permanently immigrate to the US (fiance k1/k2) option they removed the option that said just fiance k1/k2 BUT if you choose that one then you have to pay teh $350 immeadiately....i decided to go with teh permanetly immigrate to US ready to scheduale anyways hopign that it will still be ok even though they put up the new choice for us becasue i wanted to avoide the fee until the interview.... :s Its a new system I would hope that as long as you have all your documents with oyu at teh interview everything would be ok...im not sure who we could call to make sure....

Oh and the difference with teh fiance one...is that they ask for your ds160 confirmation # whereas the other one they dont...so i think it would be better that all the information be linked....but who knows...
