Hi everyone,

I got my packet 4 in the mail today.

I applied online and it told me there was no interview date for my specifications.

After calling in a couple of times to the visa help line, I got someone who knew what they were doing... sort of.

I had selected "K1/K2" visa as my option.

This is incorrect.

When applying online, you have to select "Permanently locating to the USA (Schedule interview)", or something close to that effect. Make sure you scroll all the way down the page!

Everything changed as September 1, 2010.

My interview date is October 7, 2010 at 8:00 AM!

Congrats! Thank you for the heads-up!

Glad to see I'm not the only one who is ridiculously confused!

newyorkchick- can you slow it down and explain what exactly you did? Is this for a K-1 interview? At what consulate?

You have Ottawa as your consulate? Ottawa doesn't process K-1/K-2 visas. Unless hell has frozen over and I didn't get the memo!

What she means is that instead of an assigned interview date for K1s in Montreal, packet 4 now contains instructions for scheduling your own interview online, based on your "priority" date (the date you filed initially)'

There is a bit of confusion in the system as fast as the option you select-you don't select K1/K2. You have to choose the option for"permanently relocating to the us (ready to schedule). Hope this helps clear up some of the confusion.

After I submitted my personal information, I was presented with another confirmation page and another select DHL location page, followed by a login screen for the scheduling application--huh!?!

I went back to the summary page twice before being presented with the calendar described above. I guess it could be some sort of lag between systems, but beware this little bit of freaky behaviour might happen to you. Take a deep breath and try again from your summary page.

I still can't get a calendar to show up! It just gives me the closest available date! Whereabouts on the screen does the calendar option come up? Is there a number to call? Help!

Also, just out of curiosity, does anyone know why you don't choose K1/K2?
