Hello everyone,

I am sorry if I posted my question on the wrong forum board but could not find the best place to post it.

I have filed an EAD renewal application form on August 9th 2010 and did not hear abt it for almost a month. There was no receipt of the document received by USCIS or nothing. So i had to call them and ask about the status of my application. They asked me to wait abt a week and if I don't hear from them then I will have to call them again. Today I received a mail from them and it had all my documents I have sent them for renewal of my work permit. They have also sent me a rejection notice. It was written on it that I did not submit a payment. The reason I did not send USCIS a payment was that while filling the EAD application form I looked at the instructions page and it said those who filed an I-485 after July 30th 2007 do not need to pay the EAD renewal fee. I filed my docs in August 2007. Currently I have 245 pending. I am sooo confused at why did hey ask me to make a payment. Please anybody help me sort out this problem. Your help would be highly appreciated. Thank you very much for your time and efforts.

Regards,

Sanjana.

Hard to answer your question when there is no information on your timeline, and what visa you are holding now.

What timeline? I have 245 pending (Adjustment of Status pending). Had an interview also last year (in November) but did not hear back from USCIS regarding my green card yet.

Did you mean you have a pending I-485 (adjustment of status) application? If you had an interview in November 2009 and have not heard from them since, then you may need to request for an INFOPASS appointment...or contact your senator or congressman for help.

Most of the members have their timelines posted, which describe what applications they have applied for and how far they are in their application.

Well, it's kind of I-485 but mine is 245 because I am dependent on my husband who filed I-485 so mine will be known as 245 (it's the same thing though-adjustment of status). We did get Infopass appt. few months back but they told us the same thing that we see online when we check the status. My question is abt. the EAD renewal fee though. If I am falling in the eligibility category why are they asking me to make a payment???

I've visited a number of adjustment of status entries, but I've never heard of 245...I apologize for any ignorance on that topic...however it sounds like they didn't see your renewal EAD application was submitted at the same time as your adjustment of status...that is the only reason I can see for them to request for payment of your renewal EAD.

On your renewal EAD application form, did you indicate the correct classification/category? Adjustment of status applicants are classified as ©(9)
