My fiance sent me a letter and pictures about 2 months ago via snail mail and I still haven't received it. Do you think I ever will?

How long (typically) does it take snail mail to get to the US from the Philippines?

Thanks!

I have sent snail mail to my wife before she came here several times and most all of it got there but took an average of 15 days. She is from Mindanao. The few that did not make it were Christmas cards and probably were stole by people thinking money was in them.

I sent many packages by the US Post Office and every one made it that I sent.

When I sent her important documentation for when she went to the Embassy Interview, I used FEDEX took 3 to 4 days, was expensive but made it and could easily be tracked.

Thanks for the reply. I have sent her letters, but since what I have read about things not getting there, I decided to FedEx to make sure she received them.

Btw, she was mailing from Cebu City...if that makes any difference.

I work for a university and sent my 1st package for $35. I mailed my last package for $30...I checked FedEx drop centers and UPS and they wanted around $80.

Not sure why it is cheaper to mail FedEx through my work...because it's a postal site for the campus...no discounts are give to faculty, staff or students. I'll take it over $80, anytime

Sending snail mail from the Philippines to the US is a nightmare.

My mom sent me a "registered" mail which contains documents that I had to sign, but it took 2.5 months to get to my mailbox. This type of letters has to go through customs too. Which makes it longer to reach the receiver's doorstep.

But, when my mom sent a birthday card to my cousin in Idaho, it only took 8 days and it wasn't registered. Its just a regular letter.

So your fiancee must've sent it in registered option.

You should be able to receive it in next few weeks. Fingers crossed.

Hi nc2cebu. For me, mail from Ohio to Cebu normally takes 12 days (if I'm lucky). Since Apr'10, I have mailed 16 cards to my Sweetheart and one registered packet. Only 3 cards have never arrived, one card mailed to her home address (Sitio Lokana, Lower Kalunasan) and two cards to her work address. Funny part is, once I started mailing her cards... 3 of them arrived on the same day, but were mailed three weeks apart. Explain that one. Oh, and the registered packet took 15 days...cost me $17.00 (DHL wanted $59.00). Hope this helps.

Note for tallcoolone....I loved that picture of mail order bride.

In mid-2009 we mailed a small package from interior Mindanao to Portland, Oregon via Philippine post office. Just to be cheap - instead of using FedEx (Air21)... After several weeks we gave up hope and figured it had been plundered. After a few months totally forgot about it. Nearly 5 months later it arrived in Portland in perfect condition, sealed with no indication as to cause of delay! Was a huge surprise to say the least.

I figure it just sat there at the post office Philippine style - like waiting for a jeepney to fill up before heading out... :D
