We are approaching our embassy interview very quickly. Thus, for now, I have a question concerning document DS-156, Block 26 & 27. We are processing a K-1 Visa status, and it was advised that we enter the following verbiage in block 26, “I PLAN TO STAY 90 DAYS THEN IF MARRIED ADJUST MY STATUS.” However, I personally had a problem with this statement. Therefore, I conducted some research on the internet and found that others recommended the following statement in block 26 of the DS-156 form, “Permanently, will apply for permanent residence following marriage.” The reason for my agreement and logic with the latter statement is the K-1 Visa is not intended to be a trial run. In fact, if I understand correctly, once you have filled for a K-1 visa you are stating that you are passionately in love and will get married (no doubts), and of course this is our mindset. Another option I have seen on the sample DS-156 form here on VJ, is they placed “Permanently, and then in block 27, they wrote, MARRIGE AND RELOCATION TO THE USA.” So, could anyone please give me some input regarding this question?

Thanking you in advance!
