I think the real story here is about the 'green' parking spaces.

Thats the Green- Nazi's for ya. They are now snooping around in peoples trash cans too.

As to the Hummer... I guess it must be the crowd you run with, I have never heard anyone express dislike for hummer drivers, my wife would LOVE to own one.

THis particular DRIVER seems to be the problem, he probably pulls the same ####### when he is driving his BMW.

I don't think it's a matter of hating the brand per se,

but sometimes I've noticed that folks with cars that

are bigger or faster than anyone else's bought those

for the reason that they are obnoxious when they

get behind the wheel and often impatient with or

impolite to other drivers.

They would certainly act the same way no matter

what kind of car they drove, but when they get the

monster hummer or the status beemer they get

an additional sense of privelege or entitlement

that makes them go over the top.

A school bus is a VERY visible vehicle on the

road and I don't think the hummerist got into

the accident because he failed to see it.

If the hummerist was rear-ended into the

school bus, then it wasn't his fault; however

all the damage to the hummer was in the

front and I don't think that excuse would hold up.

I also think the idea of an eco-space is a little

goofy; I don't see the motive, as people with

Priuses (Toyota) or Insights (Honda) shouldn't

have more convenient parking spaces because

handicapped (nearest the facility for which the

parking was created) spots are for folks who

have trouble walking. Same for the HOV.

I've never seen either of them in New York State.

hummers are wider than the average vehicle. i'm sure many drivers don't take that into account when parking in places for average width vehicles.

H-1s are wider. H-2 and H-3 aren't any wider than a big pick-em-up truck. But I fully agree with you, the average Hummer driver (who's never taken their Hummer off the pavement before) probably has no idea how wide their vehicle is.

I've never seen fuel-efficient spots or HOV spots - I'm not sure if they are enforceable,

The only thing enforceable in any lot is an invalid spot. Around here, we have "expectant mother" parking and "carry out" or "courtesy loading" spots. Those are usually vacant... and usually the best spots!

I don't understand all the hoopla over parking. That dude was parking a Hummer at the gym - undoubtedly in the closest spot he could find. Why park close when you're there to work out? What's an extra 50 meters? As for the angles and hogging the lines, I like to do something like this -

The problem is not Hummers. The problem is "Fuel efficient parking spots" and "High Occupanct vehicle parking spots" We do not have those in Vermont and Hummers never park in them. Problem solved...see.

Seems like they are causing a lot of hate.

But Car Karma catches up to us all, even the mighty mighty Hummer drivers!

hummer-crash-small.jpg

Ooooo – if kids were in the bus the driver would be in big doo doo. Ramming a school bus from rear and with kids on it can get really really nasty.

Fuel efficient vehicle parking and HOV parking is new to me as well, I have never seen them before.

I bet all the kids were fine. That bus has barely a dent in it!

Do you mean you're the car in the middle?

If you noticed the position of the outside vehicles, each

of those geniuses (they should not have parked that way)

has the driver's side with plenty of room to spare.

The middle car's position will only put it's driver in the squeeze.

They should have left room for other cars, but the

car in the middle is kinda cutting his nose to spite

his face if he was the last one to park. He would

have to be very slim.

With 20-20 afterthought, I think the car on the left was

the last to pull in. He's the spiteful ahsshole. If the

middle driver returns first the one on the left will have

lots of new keymarks to admire.

Actually, I've seen them in New York State. They have ECO spots at RIT.

My guess would be that the driver of that Hummer is never going to stand accountable in any earthly court. The driver's seat is under the bus.

It seems to be fashionable for mall owners, etc. to do but I'm not sure if they

can be enforced by law as the handicapped ones are.

In the supermarket I take my elderly mom to they have a reserved spot for

drivers with infants - that's a nice idea too but I'm not sure if it's enforceable

except by a mall cop.
