Hello,

My wife and I were married last year, and our son was born in December. I live in the US. My wife and son are still living in Thailand until our visa process is complete.

In order to apply for The Consular Report of Birth Abroad of a Citizen of the United States of America (CRBA) for my son, do I need to personally go to the US Embassy in Bangkok and apply there?

I did find this from the US Embassy in Bangkok: http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/service/birth-of-a-u.s.-citizen-in-thailand.html which states both parents (or a notarized consent from the non-appearing parent) and child.

Does this mean my wife and son can apply on their own with my notarized consent?

Thanks,

Brian

oNo need for you to appear in person. You "may" be required to do a DNA test in the US tho.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

Thanks for the info. Still might go for a visit and apply all in one trip since i miss them so much, but its good to have more options available .

Hi there, I am thai girl whom marry with american, in your case you do not need to do DNA test if you are sure that the baby that is your real kid, you can scan your passport and the stamp in and out to Thai country, W2, Tax return last 2 years or the pictures both of you lived together while you were in Thailand, and you can descript both of your relationship as the letter or the thai married certificate to proof to consulate here in Thailand. The birth certificate of babe will have your name as father, then you can tell your wife go to consulate here and process your baby case,
