While I was making preparations for the rally the other day I took some time to pick up a talking dog (you can find anything in New York). So I took the dog into a bar with me and told the bartender, "If I prove to you that this dog can talk, will you give me a free drink?"

The bartender said, "Sure, I got nothing to lose."

So I said to the dog, "OK, Sport, what's that up over our heads?"

The dog said, "Roof!"

"Oh, come on," the bartender said. "All dogs go 'roof.'"

"No, wait," I said. Then I asked the dog, "Who was the greatest baseball player of all time?"

"Ruth!" said the dog.

The bartender just stared at me blankly.

"OK, just one more try," I said. And I said to the dog, "Who is the world's foremost imam?"

The dog said, "Rauf!"

At that the bartender growled, "Get out of here!" and threw us both out onto the street.

As soon as we were outside, the dog turned to me and asked,

"Should I have said Qaradawi?"

WAIT!!!!!!!!! WHAT????????? Hatred? In the bible belt? You mean deeply religious Christians HATE people of other religions. NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Religion simply isn't like that. Especially not in the bible belt, I mean they were mostly Democrats to and you know how they love ALL people and how they welcomed diversity in their schools and public institutions. Blurring the line is not accomplished by defining Muslims. It's done by demonizing the religion of Islam as an instrument of terrorism. Too many of the same people who say they don't hate Muslims won't hesitate to demean and deplore their faith. Muslims don't appreciate the distinction, and interpret that as meaning they are ok as long as they are Muslim in name only.

Why are do so many terrorists read/study the koran and call themselves Muslims. I'm pretty sure the Islamic terrorists would be just as happy if they killed you OR me in a terrorist attack.

I have lived or traveled in in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Israel, Egypt & Afghanistan and

I wasn't in any of those places as an agent of the US government or as an apologist

for US foreign policy. Sometimes people I assumed that I was but I was not.

What I found there was that there was so much fighting & arguing over politics amongst

the Islamic countries and internally within each country that it's a wonder that at any time

they could find agreement in the area of policy, whether the issue was religion or how to

deal with Israel or the US.

Another thing was that US policy was easy to dislike, because it was universally

perceived as giving Israel "carte blanche" to do whatever it pleased. That's not

very difficult to prove.

Another surprising thing was the universal warmpth and friendliness of Mulsims

toward me as an American. Their hospitality was very warm and they were mostly

able to separate the American government from the American people.

I was there over 30 years ago so admittedly a lot of things have changed. I don't

know if I'd get the same reception I got when I was there back then. I hitchhiked

through Lebanon, Syria, Jordan & Israel back in the 1970's. I don't think I would

try that again. When I did that I was young and stupid and didn't give a thought

to my personal "security."

Also things in America have changed. The attitude toward Islam and Muslim people

in America has changed very much because I knew what it was like before 9/11.

Opinions on that topic are pretty much the obsession of this forum. I don't think

such a forum would exist if not for the events of 9/11. This is our reality.

The most befitting statement in modern society is the one of; "most muslims aren't terrorists, but most terrorists are muslims."

Be that as it may, if it were Methodists committing atrocious acts around the world, they'd be the ones under attack in society...

If your 'group' is the one that has outcasts acting like idiots, then it becomes reflective upon the group.

Stating a fact that the radicla of a group will bring negative attention to a group is fact not discrimination.

If your group does not want the radicals then cut them out do not embrace them or their actions.
