You have to be patient to call DOS. It normally takes a good 10-15 minutes to get through to an operator

Theres no chance than an expedite request would slow down your processing if its denied, is there?

I am worried the same thing since my expedite request was denied.

In the denial email they told me that my case had been assigned to an adjudicator and I should hear something "soon".

That was on March 16. Since then nothing. I am left wondering what "soon" means.

I would say any day now mate, we called up last week and they were doing the 11th or 12th of September.. so u must be pretty dam close.. i called up this morning and we are the 23rd and they told me i should hear something in the next 12 days.. so hopefully

how do you know you received packet three? does it come in the mail to the petitioner or the beneficiary?

Call DOS and quote your consulate specific case number that you got from NVC. They track all aspects of your case from now on and are the best people to talk to for updates.

Calling dos always was like "we are busy, please call back later" when i'd hit 0 for a person. so idk...

either way, need to wait for my tax transcripts then I can send my boy the i-134s and stuff. He has to hunt down medical information still and is awaiting on the renewal of his passport. he sent it off about 7 weeks ago when we noticed it was about to expire =/. Delayed cause of the high travel season...sigh

You don't have to go through all of that. Just press 1 for the main menu and 0 for an operator. Thats all you need to do

VSC received my application on 16 September 2010. Yesterday I called again and the woman agreed I was outside of the 5 months processing time at VSC but the system would not allow her to enter a service request, call back in 2 or 3 hours (she thought it was technical difficulties). I called back and was told that they couldn't submit a service request because VSC was processing 11 September and I needed to call back in a week. I asked when that 11 September date was last updated and she couldn't tell me.

I called back after VSC close of business today and asked what date VSC was processing today, as my application had not been touched since 3 October and we are at 6 months one week. She did not tell me the date, however she was allowed to submit a service request for me because they were now processing past September 16. I really hope this helps.

September 11 means petitions ranging from September 11 to October 11. They do them in monthly increments (and continue to work on those from previous months not approved yet)
