A no trace probably means that they have no record so the police were unable to 'trace' anything on that person's record (or lack there of).

For example. My fiancee's police report says something like "Nothing on this person or No trace of criminal background". Though her police certificates (for Federal and State) are very easy to get because she can obtain them instantly online and verify them online and the embassy accepts those.

I wouldn't say this next step is harder, i think that the beneficiary is just slammed with soooo much paperwork all at once and other things to do. All the forms you need to fill out are very simple.

Best thing to do is go to the consulate website of were interviews in your country are held. They probably have a list of all documents that need to be brought (Rio's website does and some others Ive looked at do).

So not really more difficult in my opinion, just a lot to do all at once.

Sorry if this question is off topic for this forum, but while we're on the topic of police records, I was wondering just wondering how picky the consulates are about the them. It sounds like you have to get police records for every country the person has lived in for more than 6 months. So, my fiance lived in Canada for eight months, and in the last few weeks he was there, he went and requested a police record. The got it to him, he stayed another 3 weeks in Canada, and then he went back to Israel. This was in October. That should be fine, right? It doesn't have to be totally retroactive (i.e., including the last 3 weeks he lived in Canada?)

I would think so as long as he didn't commit any crime, might want to email the embassy the interview will be at and ask them.

Well, at least your case is already with an adjudicator. I got a generic denial reply.

Your request for expedited processing has been received. After careful review and consideration, it has been determined that the request does not meet the expedite guidelines established by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. As such, the case will be adjudicated in date receipt order.

Hey, guys! How are you all doing? I think my petition has left NVC Monday or today. There was a package received today, March 16 at Bucharest from NVC. I checked on DHL. And there is another package sent from NVC today that will reach the Consulate on Friday! I'm calling Dept. of State or the Consulate tomorrow to know details while my sweetie is gathering his paperwork for the I-134 package! Woohooo! I'm so excited!!!

I don't know how your police certificate will come worded, but so long as you have no criminal history in England it will come back as "No Trace".

Different countries police certificates may come worded differently

this might be a stupid question, but my panic was about the fact that i don't understand how to get a police certificate.

and when?

Hiya! I'm not sure how it works in Jordan, but here in the Philippines we get it from the NBI which is the National Bureau of Investigation. It's a police clearance specifically for travel in the US and is valid for 1 year from the date it has been issued. I got mine September of last year. There should be a government agency there similar to this, you should call them and ask.

Easy fix. Go to the Jordan portal and ask the question there. Your fellow country folk should have the answer for you.

From a quick search I found this on the Canadian immigration website,

How to obtain a police certificate

Jordan

Do I need to provide a police certificate when applying for permanent residence?

Yes.

How and where do I obtain one?

If you live in Jordan

Police certificates can be obtained at the General Intelligence Department/Abdali in Amman. You must ask for the police certificate form for travel abroad. You must present two passport photographs, a copy of your passport and fee stamps.

General Intelligence Department telephone:

962 6 586 5131

If you live outside Jordan

You can apply for a police certificate through any Jordanian embassy abroad by presenting two passport photographs, a copy of your passport and fee stamps.

Hope this helps

Does anyone know, if you get an RFE, does your online case status still say "Initial review"?

When I called USCIS recently they said they had "mailed me something" last week but couldn't say what it was. I am signed up for all the text/email notifications, so I didn't think it was an RFE - I thought it was a response to my expedite request that I put in last week. But not it seems like people who get denied an expedite also get email/test updates...what would they send me only a hard copy of??

If you would have RFE then status would change accordingly, something like this :

"Request for Evidence

On March 8, 2011, we mailed a notice requesting initial evidence in this case. Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the evidence requested. Meanwhile, processing of this case is on hold until we either receive the evidence or the opportunity to submit it expires. Once you submit the evidence requested and a decision is made, you will be notified by mail. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283."

Sometimes system or workers are failing, ve seen single cases when people didnt get e-notification but were approved. Though they found out via calling customer service, but you say they didnt tell you wht was it. I guess you ll find out when you receive it, hope your NOA2 comes faster. :)
