I realize that nobody here is the enemy. In fact, I like posting in this thread because we are all in the same boat and can empathize with each other.

But there is an enemy. That enemy is the Vermont Disservice Center.

THEY are the ones blocking me from marrying the woman I love.

THEY are the ones who ruined my Thanksgiving.

THEY are the ones who ruined my Christmas.

THEY are the ones who ruined my New Years.

THEY are the ones who will ruin my Valentines Day and Easter, and probably most, if not all of my summer.

Why don't they just ruin my entire life since they are doing such a good job of ruining it one piece at a time?

Please stop arguing with people. This thread is for support and you are free to vent but it is unhelpful to everyone to deliberately attempt to quash anyone's positivity.

VSC and CSC alternate constantly. It's the way things go. VSC sucks but does not deliberately keep your petition because they hate you and want to make you, personally, suffer. There will be an end to this. We are ALL in the same boat. Driving yourself insane over VSC is not going to change immigration and the way it works. Step back. Try not to come to this website or Igor's List for a few days. Direct your attention elsewhere and give yourself a break from this to work on other things in your life until you are at a point where you can contact USCIS. Having a positive attitude does not equate approving of the way things are right now.

I gave you a lengthy explanation of all of my reasons for this and all of the reasons why you're viewpoints are based in as much "fact" as anyone else's around here. I can link back to that post if necessary.

And if you're simply unwilling to do that right now, then agree to disagree but please don't turn this into a bickering thread. Everyone doesn't have to agree with your attitude.

I am truly sorry, but I don't see where I am arguing with anybody. What am I missing?

And more importantly, how does everyone stay positive without entertaining false hope? This is a question and not a challenge, as I would love to be positive, but I see nothing to be positive about. Instead, I see a secretive and totalitarian government agency exercising iron-fisted control over the single most important event of my entire life, and I hear lies from this agency about when they are going to release this control and excuses as to why they will not release it just yet.

When will my government give me back control over my own life? They won't tell me, and they treat the answer as some sort of national security secret. I truly feel like a character from George Orwell's 1984.

How is this positive? Will somebody please explain this to me?

You are on a forum full of people who have been through exactly the same process as you're going through and they've gotten through it. Thousands of success stories on this forum alone. They've all reached the goal you are so desperate to achieve. It will happen. You'll get there. In the meantime, you're surrounded by people in the same boat you are. Take advantage of that in a positive way instead of a negative one. Instead of spending so much time crying about the injustice of it all, use the forum to deal with the wait in a productive way.

Accept the things in life that you cannot change or control. This process is one of them. It'll take as long as it takes. That's life.

You are barely three months into this. There's a long way to go, even after NOA2. It's going to be a long, miserable road if every minute is spent being angry at how unfair everything is.

Remaining positive without false hope is to sit back and focus on the fact they WILL get to my petition. That's a fact. They will. I remain positive by focusing on that instead of how long it is taking. I don't see how focusing on the positive that they WILL get to me sometime .. is 'false hope'.

False hope?

Get a grip, dude. You're sounding more and more pathetic with every post. Look, we're all in the same boat here. It's not nearly as bad as YOU make YOURSELF think it is. Tomorrow is my 4 month mark since NOA1. One more day, week and month nearer to the day I will be with my second half. We are both staying busy, time is moving quickly, and we are HAPPY. Perhaps you need to make some changes in the way you wait.

It'll take as long as it takes.

THAT is the problem. I can wait for something when I know the date it will happen on. That is how I live, and that is the principle around which I built my life.

When we are in the interview stage, I get a date. It will be about two months into the future, but I will have an exact date.

When the interview is over, Elena gets her visa in two weeks. Again, we have a date.

The next step, the plane trip to New York, involves an exact date that Elena and I select.

But this, maybe in 5 months, maybe in 6, maybe in 7, maybe in who knows, is absolutely maddening. Never in my life have I felt so totally out of control. Even when I was in college, spending thousands of dollars each year on tuition and making maybe $5,000.00 a year over the summer vacations, I had a date by which I would have my degree. It was four years into the future, but it was a date.

But now there is no date and therefore no control, and it is driving me to the brink of insanity. I cannot function that way. I need control.

On topic, while he may voice his opinion a lot, that is his right and choice. He is also a citizen of the United States and is allowed to not be satisfied with the way a federal agency, which by design is there to serve the citizens of said country, handles it's business.

Some of us handle this unknown in different ways. Some of us are happy to sit back and not be given definitive dates as to when our petition will be filed, some of us are not. To each his own. But again, it is our right as U.S. citizens to question the government when it fails us, and frankly, they are failing in their duties as of now based on the letter from USCUS director to Congress for the budget (posted on other forum).

Remember, "Charity starts at the home". The U.S. government should learn this.

It may take longer than the posted time, but if you just make yourself (mentally) aim for 5-6.5 months for a NOA2, you won't be angered as much when 5 months come and go.

Then this will be a very difficult process for you. Unfortunately, just knowing it will eventually be your time will have to be enough.

I'm done trying to reason with you. You're overly dramatic and have ignored everything factual everyone else has contributed. For someone who claims to value a "solid factual foundation" you're ignoring a lot.

Be a conspiracy theorist all you want. Wallow whilst refreshing Igor's List a million times a day all you want. Act like VSC is intentionally out to make you miserable all you want. Positive attitude does not equal happy with the way things are; it means taking the same fragments of information you have and assigning positive intent instead of driving ourselves insane with paranoia about the service center. Complaining and griping on a message board all day is not accomplishing anything; if you really feel that it's that bad and you truly believe that USCIS is deliberately not approving petitions, then either a) move somewhere else or b) go out and do something that may actually make a difference.

But please do not come here and argue with us. You argue every time we're trying to chat and support each other through this and try to steamroll everything we're saying whether there's any logic behind your side of it or not (and there often isn't). We get it. You're choosing to be pessimistic and miserable and obsessive. We aren't. You can have your pity party but stop picking apart everyone else is saying because we don't join in. Accept we feel differently and move on.

And that's fine, but when someone else disagrees and tries to move on it is the other person's right that they don't have him interjecting on every post they make. Agree to disagree and move on but if someone else is choosing a different outlook don't harass them with dramatic accusations and statements that are based on nothing but guesswork and negative assumption thinking it will change their mind. I have repeatedly asked him to stop arguing with other posters and while I've given advice in hopes of him saving his sanity a little bit I overall accept his stance and accept it won't change. All that I'm asking for is the same respect in return.

Who said I didn't like his posts? Maybe you oughta use the ignore feature. :P

My message to EVERYONE is that it isn't that hard to stay positive. There is so much us couples can be doing to pass the time. Many of us have fiancees whose native tongue is not English. Most of us have internet and a good portion probably communicate via Skype. This is valuable time that can be used to help our future spouse's prepare to arrive in their new country and one great way to help pass the time and to help is to study English together. This is just one example of many that can aid in making use of this long wait.
