We came to an agreement where he has 45 days (exactly half of the allotted time) to search for a job and at least get good job-leads. If he doesn't get hired or have any bites by 46 days, we get married that day! Ha. He is so worried about getting married when I'm the one providing for him. He is a bit embarrassed so we compromised. However, part of me just wants to drag him off the plane and to the court house :P

off-topic question, anyone else on here going to have their fiance meet their friends and family for the first time when they come here?

Just checking. He does realise that he is not entitled to work until he has work authorization(EAD). And he can't get that till you are both married and done AOS. At the moment EAD is granted after about 60 days from filing for AOS.

The sooner you get married, the sooner he can work.

yes, thts how we also thinking about this fast track of "u gotta marry in 90 days". civil ceremony i guess is the most practical and real solution, though im kind of moody about it as always wanted the day to be the most special :P it will be, no doubt, but still I wished there were more time as it will be the first and only time. at least my parents have visitor visa already. heh its funny how this paperwork turns the thoughts, time and efforts of what does really matter. cant wait for november to come - just another psychological trick to go with :)

We're planning on a church wedding, not a civil ceremony, so that we can have it be more special. You just have to plan on ideas that you can push it back if you need to. I know someone else has a second date picked out if neeeded.

Oh well. Another week over, and only one VJ member, July VSC filer approved. At this rate we will be waiting well into next year until we even get approval :( . The not knowing what the hell is going on in Vermont just sucks.

Wishing everyone a great weekend. And looking forward to a more productive November, on the part of USCIS.

Ameribrit, I'm convinced things will move faster. Just by looking at Igor's List you can see that they did it pretty well last year. Anyway... It's not like they're going to remain lazy for the rest of the year. For what is worth, I heard some rumors about how they want to work as much as possible until the end of the year. I don't know if that's even true. But how long can it take? It won't be longer than 5 months, so... the maximum is until the beginning of February. Though I'm sure they'll approve us by December. Maybe even November. Who knows? They work so... randomly...

I hope they do pick up the pace, soon. They need too, otherwise they will have a whole lot of congressional inquiries in December, once the July filers get past the 5 month mark.

I don't think we can compare last years processing figures to this years. It just bugs me that if the adjudicators are doing a 4 day week right now, why wouldn't they bump it up to a five day week until they clear the backlogged files. Especially as we paid the higher price for the initial petition, which will drop again in November.

I'm just frustrated and impatient i guess. I just want to start my new life, with the love of my life, allready. As they say, "All good things come to those that wait"

Have a great weekend

Yep, that's right about those who wait. However, I disagree that we can't compare. The thing is, USCIS was more efficient with every year that went by. So I'm pretty sure it's just a short period and they will soon pick up the pace!

I know how it's like to miss your loved one, I'm waiting impatiently to move to the US with my fiancé. We've been dying to be together for the past 3 years. :|

You're right about USCIS working 5 days. Idk what's happening. Someone here on VJ has a veeery nice signature: What happens in Vermont, stays in Vermont. Problem is... nothing happens in VT!!! God. :(

Have a great week-end too and chin up!!

For what is worth, I heard some rumors about how they want to work as much as possible until the end of the year. I don't know if that's even true.

There may be some truth to those rumors. With the fee for filing a I-129F to go down this November, I think it's a safe bet there are many people sitting on completed I-129F's waiting for the filing fee to go down. The rumors could be related to a possible uptick in I-129F filings that will occur when the lower fee takes effect.

very much possible. Still dont get why they flactuate the fees. we prefered to start sooner, so we finish sooner but feels like after new IPhone came out, when marketing strategy was to rip off the first buyers and then drop the price. It makes more sense to have more manpower for increased fees than play with filers' nerves.

Hey there Sep Filiers!! I want to wish all of you the best of luck!! My fiancee and I are Feb 2010 filiers. Keep in mind that this is going to be a long process. It will have it's up's and down's. But stay the course, and it will all work out. Just a few tips. Read, re-read, and read everything in each packet again. Make sure you follow all the instructions on the USCIS website to the "T". Make sure everything is signed. Make copies of EVERYTHING and keep them near by. Take at least 15 passport photos. We were all on a first name basis with the people at our local photo shop (that how namy times we had to go back and take more). Make sure your passports are all up to date and not about to expire (if within 6 months, re-new now). Make sure you have all the money ahead of time for all fees. My fiancee over-looked the final fee that was due at the American Embassy in Toronto. Almost had a major disaster. Thank God for Western Union. But save yourself the drama and have it ready ahead of time. There are going to be long periods of not hearing anything from either USCIS and the embassy. Rest assured, they will send you all the information that you will need. Once again, best of luck to you all. If you have any questions, feel free to hit us up on the "February 2010 VCS Filiers" forum.

Love, Peace, and Hair Grease to all,

JP

Don't bank on the fee changing. With the US political climate the way it is, Immigation one of the "hot button"topics, and a possible "lame duck" session for congress, expect nothing to really change. All fees have to be approved by congress. The fees can not change on their own.
