No. All that matters to them is that the sponsor (or their co-sponsor) has the necessary income to insure that they do not become a ward of the state.

Yes, actually, the USC petitoner will be required to demonstrate that he/she earns income or has assets that match or exceed the 125% of the poverty threshold for the household size.

This is done by filling out and presenting the I-134 affidavit of support at the Embassy interview.

If the USC petitioner cannot meet that level, then most (but certainly not all) Embassies/Consulates will accept the I-134 of a joint-sponsor.

Hello my fiance's income is based on social security disability (income contribution) and he was getting around $12,600.00 (net) and on his part time job which is around $3,600.00 so a total of $16,200.00 ANNUAL INCOME last year and presently . Is that sufficient enough for him to meet the target income of 125% poverty line ? Coz I was thinking that a petitioner which is on disability income has a lower chances of Visa being approved. With that figures please help me if that will suffice the allowable income. He cannot have a full time job coz he's on disability that's why he only takes part time job. Please help if these incomes he has right now will pass the the requirement. Thank you very much.......HOPE YOU CAN HELP ME ON THIS ONE...

Audy_Rob did not state anything incorrect. The OP did not specify who was the petitioner and who was the beneficiary.

No that is not enough. He will need around $18,000 to qualify. However, assets or a cosponsor may be used to fufill the requirement.

His income tax returns will be one form of verificatin, his bank deposits will be another. If he does not meet the guidelines he will need a co-sponsor for both the visa and the AOS

The way the question was worded implied that that the person in reference was the beneficiary:

"My fiance is an artist and musician. Will it be required that he show some sort of financial ability to live in usa? If so, what does that entail?"

In other words I took it as 'does the beneficiary have to prove that he will have what it takes to get a job in once he's in the US.'

Now when the next poster assumed the opposite I asked the poster for clarification. Regardless though, the USC or their co-sponsor must meet the income requirements. So correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't we saying the same thing but with different words?

Hello Im new to all this Visa Journey so bare with me! Im wondering about a co sponsor. I dont make enough myself to sponsor him so I have to have a co sponsor. My co sponsor makes about 40000 for a family of 4. What kind of information will they want to see income? Would W2s be enough?? (He is not self employed) Or would there be another form for his employer to fill out??
